Poetry

Morgan Le Fay
by Madison Cawein

Im dim samite was she bedight
And on her hair a hoop of gold,
Like foxfire, in the tawn moolight,
Was glimmering gold.

With soft gray eyes she gloomed and glowered;
With soft red lips she sang a song:
What knight might upon her face,
Nor fare along?

Guenevere
by Sara Teasdale

I was a queen, and I have lost my crown;
A wife, and I have broken all my vows;
A lover, and I have ruined him I loved:---
There is no other havoc to do.
A little month ago, I was queen,
And mothers held their babies up
When I came riding out of Camelot.

Lancelot
by Sinclair Lewis

Blow, weary wind,
O'er lakes, o'er dead swamps crying,
Amid the gray stumps sighing
While slow, and cold, and sullen,
The waves splash on the shore.
O'er wastes of bush and mullen,
Dull crows flap, evermore.
The Autumn day is chill and drear
As you knight, thinking Guenevere
Proves almost unkind.

Still want more poetry? Check out Tennyson's Lady of Shallot! It's the story of Elaine, and how she dies of unrequited love for Lancelot. *sigh* Very sad. Also, there is a great site that has a ton more poems by Tennyson, and a lot of them have to do with "Arthurian" type subjects. Thanx to Richard for that quote!
