PAKISTAN STUDENTS ASSOCIATION AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY

CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE 1

NAME: The name of this organization shall be the PAKISTAN STUDENTS ASSOCIATION AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY, hereinafter referred to as the club.

ARTICLE 2

AIMS/ PURPOSE: To provide a better social and cultural understanding of Pakistani culture to the Boston University community.

ARTICLE 3

MEMBERSHIP: The membership shall be open equally to all full and part time Boston University students, without restrictions due to race, religion, nationality, sex, handicap, sexual preference, or political convictions.

ARTICLE 4

OFFICERS: There shall be four officers: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary who shall be full-time registered undergraduate Boston University students.

ARTICLE 5

DUTIES OF OFFICERS

President: It shall be the duty of the President to call and preside over all meetings of the club, to delegate responsibility to the Executive board members as deemed necessary; and to perform other duties required by the club.

Vice President: The Vice President shall assume the function of the President if the President steps down from office; and shall be in charge of all committees appointed.

Treasurer: The Treasurer shall be responsible for all fiscal matters of the club; to keep an account of all receipts and expenditures; and to attend a Treasurer's Orientation conducted by the Student Activities Business Office annually. The Treasurer shall be the only person authorized to initiate purchase orders/requisitions or other requests for services/goods or to withdraw funds from the club's account, in accordance with Boston University policy. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to provide the general members with a monthly report of the club's account.

Secretary: The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping minutes of all meetings and written records of the club. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to inform members of upcoming events, to initiate contact with other Boston University organizations, and to assist the other Executive board members with administrative matters.

ARTICLE 6

ELECTIONS: Elections shall be held annually, one month before the end of the academic year for the following academic year. A majority of two-thirds of the members of the club must be present at the election of the officers. A candidate must be nominated, and the nomination must be seconded before the candidate can run for office. The candidate receiving a plurality of the vote cast in the elections held under this article shall be deemed elected. Candidates must be members of the club. The duties of each officer as stated in this constitution must be read at the time of the nominations.

ARTICLE 7

DUTIES OF OUTGOING EXECUTIVE BOARD: It shall be the responsibility of the outgoing Executive Board to assist the Executive board elect in filing the budget for the following academic year with the SUAB office. In addition, the outgoing Executive board is responsible for informing/assisting the Executive board elect with the administration procedures required of the club.

ARTICLE 8

MEETINGS: The club shall meet once every three weeks, the day and place of the meeting to be determined by the President. Other meetings may be held at the discretion of the President.

ARTICLE 9

DUES: Dues shall be $10.00 annually. Any other event that may warrant an entrance fee shall be determined by the officers of the club.

ARTICLE 10

AMENDMENTS: This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any meeting held for this purpose. At such a meeting, a majority of two-thirds of the total membership of the club must be present, and the officers of the club will determine voting procedure. The Director of the Students Activities Office must approve all amendments before becoming effective.
