Arcadia Volunteer Opportunities


Please consider becoming a volunteer. The following committees need dedicated people--some
even need a chairperson. You can print this page and check any and all committees you are

Committees

____Adopt-A-School: Works with VA Medical Center and JVC personnel coordinating events and promoting partnerships.
____Birthday Recognition: Coordinates monthly recognition of students' birthdays by decorating a bulletin board and providing cupcakes during lunch.
____Building and Grounds (needs a chair): Coordinates clean-up days at least twice a year and assists in obtaining work orders for needed maintenance. Great choice for those that enjoy the outdoors and like to get dirty!
____Buzz Book: Organizes and distributes school telephone directory for students.
____Childcare (needs a chair): Secures qualified caregivers for children during PTA meetings and oversees these workers and the children's activities.
____Cultural Arts (needs a chair): Coordinates and promotes the REFLECTIONS art contest.
____Food Coordination (needs a chair): Coordinates volunteers for food service at meetings and events where food is served (Meet and Greet, Spaghetti Supper, etc.)
____Hospitality: Recognizes faculty and staff birthdays with the presentation of small gifts from the PTA. Also serves as host/hostess for school guests, and coordinates and obtains parent volunteers for two teacher luncheons.
____Library/Reading: Schedules volunteers to work the Book Fair. Also assists the librarian on a regular basis with shelving books, reading to students, helping with the Accelerated Reader program, and soliciting donations for our Point Store (where children cash in points for prizes every nine weeks.)
____Publications/Public Relations: Provides the local and school newspapers with information about student honors, PTA meetings, and other newsworthy information. (Need a volunteer from each class for this to be successful.)
____Recycling: Oversees the collection and disposal of our aluminum-can recycling program.
____Student of the Week: Collects photographs from teachers (and return them each week) to display on the bulletin board. Also distributes gift bags for each student. This requires a weekly changing of photos on the bulletin board in the main hallway.
____Yearbook (needs a chair): Takes and/or collects photos throughout the year for publication in our student yearbook. Oversees the distribution and colleciton of money for the book.
____Volunteers: Unable to decide? Choose this one. You will be contacted when you are needed for a variety of important activities. We need a lot of volunteers to be the best school we can be!
____Ways and Means: This may be the most important committee we have. It involves fundraising for the school. A lot of time and effort are required for this one. ____Spaghetti Supper (September 7) ____Innisbrook Giftwrap Sales (through September 14) ____Fall Festival
