a highly selective school. While preparing for 
the entrance exams with her best friend Yui 
Hongo, she suddenly encounters 
an ancient book of Chinese literature called 
"The Universe of the Four Gods." The book tells 
the story of the legendary Suzaku 
no Miko, the Prietess of Suzaku who is a girl 
who obtains power from the god Suzaku. Little 
did she know that she infact, was this girl 
and would be swept away into the realm of 
ancient China for many adventures.  Miaka 
is kind-hearted, excited, scatterbrained, 
and adores inhaling food at any and every 
opportunity possible. While in the Konan 
Country she falls in love with one of the 
seishi (star warriors who protect the Miko) 
known as Tamahome. Miaka runs into trouble when
 Hotohori fights for her heart as well.

may have seemed that he was only interested
 in gained money, later we learn just how 
much he cares for Miaka and what he'd do to 
protect her.

Nuriko. She loves Hotohori but he is much

even notice her efforts. Because Hotohori

 She finally realizes that Miaka is too much in 
love with Tamahome to bother with Hotohori. 
Nuriko isn't as mean to her, but still
 can't help teasing her. Nuriko is very flirtatous

He may seem rude and thoughtless, but 
Tasuki would fight for anything that 
was truely important to him. He is also
 heir to leadership of the Thieves of Mt. Leikaku.
