About the Forum
Welcome to the Forum. Our purpose is to provide Pine
View Student's with a public forum for student expression. The
editors firmly believe that any school should have the benefit of
such a forum, but that a student body such as that at Pine View
especially requires one. Sadly, Pine View students have been
without a forum for student expression for quite some time.
Although Pine View does have an official school newspaper, The
Torch, it can not be considered a public forum for student
expression. A public forum for student discussion such as the Forum
will forcefully express opinions on important issues that
affect you, even if such opinions run contrary to current
administration dogma. Unfortunately, The Torch cannot be
considered a forum for student expression similar to the Forum,
because significant content decisions, namely censorship, are
made by the Administration. Thus, it is with great pleasure that
we introduce our motto, "All the news that that other paper
won't print." In contrast to The Torch, the Forum
is a fully student directed operation.
The Forum has some important goals and non-goals. Our top priority is to provide meaningful and challenging articles for our readers. Consequently, writing a great number of articles is not among our goals, as the Forum prefers quality to quantity. Additionally, the Forum staff is quite interested in the opinion of the reader. Therefore, we encourage submission of letters to the editor, guest columns, article ideas, general suggestions, and ideas to increase circulation.
