You need to buy some new clothes, file-folders, even cameras, etc, to adapt the new environment. You may want to know how to get the cheapest price, where is the best place to go shopping and where can get the things you want. Here are some suggestions.

There are many places you can go. The main ones are China Town, Orchard, City Hall, Sim Lim Square, IKEA, and Little India. Let me introduce them to you one by one. ^_^

China Town—what a familiar name to us! You may have already paid attention to the word ‘China’. Yes, China Town does have many Chinese products—Chinese goods, Chinese clothes, Chinese food, etc. The best thing is that the prices of the products there are not very expensive. There are mainly two big shopping malls there, "Chinatown point"(唐城坊) and "People’s Park Complex(珍珠坊). In People’s Park Complex, you can find many airline agencies, such as China-America Travel Agency (中美旅行社). So far, they are the cheapest airline agency that we have found in Singapore. More than this, there are many small stores. They sell clothes (even winter clothes), watches, cameras, and electrical equipment there. It is also a good place to get your money changed, since there are many moneychangers there. You can find them on the first floor. When you come to Singapore, you may find that Singapore also has its special sign—Merlion (鱼尾狮).

In both Chinatown Point and People’s Park Complex, you can find many Singapore handicraft products. If you go back to China,

These are good presents for your friends and relatives in China. Meanwhile, don’t forget to bargain. The prices of the product in different stores are quite distinct. Go to more places, then you will find the cheapest. After leaving China Town, you may feel more or less having just been in maybe one city of China. (You can take MRT to go there, at   W2).

Orchard—an attractive place to go. There are many shops along Orchard Road. You can just go around, see and buy the things you like. There are some good bookstores there, POPULAR (大众书局) is a good one and you can see a lot of books, notebooks, A4 exercise books, as well as stationeries.  There are quite a lot of kinds of them, and you can choose whatever you want. In fact, POPULAR (大众书局) has many branches in big malls all over Singapore. Another popular store—Lucky Plaza also lies in Orchard. It sells lots of clothes, involving many proprietary stores, such as This Fashion, Bossini, and Giordano. Suntec City may have more advantage compared to Raffles. The products there are not single, but in different sorts. First, you can find good electrical equipment there. Second, it is also a good place to buy small gifts. If you need to buy something for your friend's birthday, some small lovely things for your table by your bedside, buy ornament, and beautiful jewellery, Suntec City is a good place where the prices are also not too high. Moreover, if you pay much attention, you will find on the ground floor, there are many places for eating. They provide meat, chickens, fruits, etc. En--, very delicious! Finally, It also offers some sports appliance, sports shoes, clothes, skating shoes, etc, especially skating shoes, which are quite cheap.

In addition, City Hall contains another popular market—Funan. It sells computers, as well as the accessory of them. If you want to buy computer, you can consider this place. (City Hall is at C2, you can take MRT there).

After introducing these places, do you have a new image of Singapore and know better of where can go shopping? Ok, let’s see Sim Lim Square now.

Sim Lim Square. As time passing by, you will find that more and more things you need to buy. People who love computer very much may want to buy a computer. Someone who likes music very much may want to buy Discman, Walkman, CDs, VCDs. You will also find that tools such as pliers, screwdriver all necessary in your daily life. You may find Sim Lim Square a really good place to go.

IKEA. What is the most necessary equipment for your study? You may have got the answer—Electric lamp. Where can buy the suitable ones? Go to IKEA please. IKEA lies on Queensway. You may find many sorts of lamps there: the ones can be fixed on your bed, laid on the table. Besides electric lamps, you can also find bookshelf, small desks, bath towel, etc.

Little India. You must have already formed a new image in your mind. When you go to this place, you will find it as if you are really in India. Most of the shop owners are Indians. Ok, let me introduce the products there. It sells suitcases, from small size to large one, hard and soft rind… It also sells small gifts, which can be given as presents to your friends.
