Heterodontosaurus (het-ur-oh-DONT-oh-sore-us)

An Early Jurassic ornithopod from South Africa [Greek hetero, "different" + odonto, "tooth"]. Heterodontosaurus was an advanced member of the heterodontosaur-family, having tightly packed, long grooved molars and sharp, crooked tusks. The wearing of the teeth shows that the animal could chew from side to side, and not just up and down like the fabrosaurs.
