Iguanodon (i-GWA-no-don)

An Early Cretaceous ornithopod from Western Europe, Roumania, Western North America, North Africa and Mongolia [iguana, a living lizard, + Greek odon, "tooth"]. Iguanodon had teeth that resembled those of the living iguanas, only a lot bigger. The "nail"-thumb was its only defence. This Early Cretaceous dinosaur was the largest, most common and most widely spread of all iguanodonts.
