Cohousing - a Possible 1st Attempt:

Are there any newsgroups on Utopia?  Discussion groups?  Want to start one?  It still seems to me that the Cohousing model is a good laboratory for applying life forces to your theories....

There is a living style called cohousing that has its roots in Denmark and Holland and is slowly getting a foothold in the U.S.  The model varies broadly, but in general, about 10 - 30 households (singles, families, retirees, etc.) own some land and/or a building in common, oftentimes including a "Common House", and live alongside each other in their own private residences forming an "intentional community."  Think of villages and extended family.  It seems to me that before grand-scale Utopia will ever arrive, people will need to have achieved it on the smaller, more practical scale of cohousing first.  And the achievement will be the communities, relations, and personal growth necessary for cohousing to survive, not so much its mere physical presence.  For more info see http://www.cohousing.org
