How To Burn Container Candles
Container candles are quickly growing in popularity, and there are a number of things to watch for when burning your container candles....
To avoid "craters" in the center of your candles, be sure to burn them for at least one hour for each inch your candle is in diameter, let it
burn for a minumum of 2 hours. If you find your candle smokes, put it out and once cooled, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. Another
potential cause for a "smoking" candle" is a draft. Be sure your candle is not near an open window or ceiling fan.
Container candles, particularly glass will conduct heat. Be sure to place the glass container on a heat resistant trivet or pot holder to
avoid scortching furnature surfaces. Also, avoid carrying lit jar candles and be sure that the wax has begun to solidify before carrying
them around. Never leave candle jars unattended. Glass can break particularly if it has been inadvertently knocked against
something. The glass may not show signs of weakness, however, the heat may crack the glass in the spot where it had been hit.
