POTPOURRI

Deep pink spike speedwell 'Red Fox' is one of the perennials added to the new border this spring. Behind it and slightly to the left is a 'Nearly Wilde' floribunda hardy rose shrub; peeking from the upper left corner is rich purple meadow sage. That's lamb's ear to the close right, and tucked in the lower left corner is blue fescue wild grass.

Here are some closeups I just experimented with using a digital camera.

Bluebells of Scotland

The annual nasturtiums always do well in northeast Wisconsin. They seem to best like full sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon.

Around by the back porch, there are hosta and crownvetch, two low maintenance, drought-resistant, deer-resistant, rabbit-resistant, puppy-resistant plants. This bed is about 6 years old, and hopefully, the large slope I planted with crownvetch seeds this spring will look like this in a few years. Crownvetch is used by the DNR in Wisconsin beside highways to prevent erosion, eliminate mowing, and create natural beauty by the roadside with its lovely rose pink flowers all summer long.
