The Branch Building Fund has increased to RM9,903.10 to date (not inclusive of interest earned) with a generous donation of RM100.00 from Mr. Sia Heng Duan, RM100.00 from an anonymous donor, RM60.00 from the Gopeng Rafflesia trip, and RM30.00 from two trips led by Mr. Ng Chang Chai. The fund will certainly increase when the final accounts from the sale of other items are included. However, our efforts at fund raising will continue through the sale of insect post cards (RM3.00 per set of 6), trip collections and donations. If you wish to make any donations please send your cheques/money order/bank draft payable to Malaysian Nature Society to the Chairman at the branch address. Any amount, however small, is most welcome. All donations to the MNS are tax-deductible for this year 2000. Please ensure that your name is correctly spelled as in your identity card.

MNS Perak Branch Office
We are slowly moving into our own premise at last, thanks to Madam Teh
Siew Kheng who has generously allowed us to use it rent free at least for
a quite while until we purchase our own premise. By the time you receive
this newsletter we would have the electricity connected and the lights
and other
fittings installed. We would need office equipment and furniture to
make it functional so hopefully members, especially corporate ones who
would like to donate to the branch are most welcome. Please contact the
Branch Chairman or any of the branch committee to obtain a list of such
requirements and inform us of your intended donation. One room will be
set aside for rent to outstation members at a very reasonable rate.
New Members
We welcome the following who applied to join as new members either directly
to HQ or through the Perak Branch. If anyone is left out of this list please
write in to inform the Chairman.

Penang Branch
Taman Negara Trip (7-9 July)
This is a very popular trip as you will get to see and learn a lot if
you go with the MNS. They take the trouble and have the expertise to tell
you the unique characteristics of the flora and fauna, as well as the geography
of the area. Stay will be in the hostel. So, you may bring children as
well. Members are charged RM300.00 while non-members pay RM350.00. Call
James Leong to confirm your booking (Tel. 012-4513626 after 5.30 p.m. or
e-mail: [email protected]) or Ang Sek Chuan (Tel. 016-4548399 or email:
[email protected]). A copy of the Application form is available from the
Perak Branch Chairman on request through e-mail.
