In Search of the Gopeng Fireflies (Saturday 25 March)

A total of 31 participants including 3 non-members took part in this Saturday afternoon trip. Despite the overcast sky the participants were very enthusiastic throughout the trip. Some migrating raptors (about 20 odd individuals were sighted in the sky flying up north while we were approa-ching the limestone hill for the gradual climb to the top. From the vantage point at the hill top the participants enjoyed themselves thoroughly at the panoramic view of the surrounding landscape as well as the fading twilight over the Kledang hills. Dr. Chan kai Soon was busy with his camcorder recording the activities of the participants as well as the scenic surroundings.

Coming down from the hill the participants were able to spot some fireflies on the trees lining the trail leading to our parked cars. However, the number of fireflies observed were not as many as what the leader had seen on some of his private trips there. All in all it was a pleasant for the participants.
