Wetland Use
Wetlands are the biological supermarkets of the world. Let's explore
the offers available for our use. For making handicrafts:

Nipah (Nypa fruticans) - a palm found along rivers near the estuary and
its leaves are used for roof thatching and cigarette wrappers.

Rasau (Pandanus helicoptus) -found abundantly. in Tasek Bera and Tasek
Cini, Pahang. Used for making mats and baskets.

Other plants used for handicraft making are:

Tube sedge (Lepiroma articulata) - mat making and thatching.

Greater club rush (Scirpus grossus) - used for making mats and strings.

Asiatic pipewort (Fimbristylis globulosa) - used for fine matting.
