On Sunday, a day after our branch AGM, a total of 28 participants, inclusive of 4 non-members and Datuk Lim Chong Keat’s entourage (3 persons) responded to the mystery tour, which was recceed earlier by Ng Chang Chai, Moon, Mah and Phooi Leng at the request of our chairman. The mystery tour turned out to be a jungle trekking trip at the Kledang-Saiong Forest somewhere behind the Jelapang town in Ipoh.
Guided by Ng Chang Chai, the participants had a field day listening to our distinguished guest, Datuk Lim's identification and commentary on the various species of palms and ginger plants found in the forest. Indeed it was tantamount to attending a botanical lesson on palms and ginger plants by Datuk Lim who was truly a botanist. For those interested participants, they must have been greatly impressed and benefited from Datuk Lim's in depth knowledge on the subject. Also on hand to offer some pointers on wild orchids was Datuk Lim's friend.
For those participants who were less botanically inclined, they were enjoyed themselves trekking along the stretch of well-canopied river basin of a beautiful and serene mountain stream with cool, crystal clear water. The reward for the trekking was to be able to relax and totally soak oneself in nature at a small waterfall where the participants rested before starting the reverse trek. Ng Chang Chai
