Wai Yee was first, James second and I was the third to arrive at our meeting point at IGB Plaza. Eventually 13 members turned up and true to the nature of Nature Society members we got moving half an hour late at 9.30. Another 12 members from the Selangor branch were waiting for us at the Bidor toll gate. I waited another half an hour for a Teluk Intan member who did not show up.
We were at the waterfall at about 11.00 am on a hot and sunny day so the cool water was most inviting. Several local people were already in the water bathing and fishing. There was a shallow pool at the base of the fall and higher up was a deep pool suitable only for those who know how to swim. A short hike along the river revealed many nice swimming spots and our members did not let the opportunity go to waste. During lunch time, Perak members revealed many gastronomic delights such as fresh brewed coffee, tuna sandwich, cakes and many other goodies which amazed the Selangor branch members who had to be content with packed nasi lemak and cold water.
We left at about 2.30 p.m. to recce a trail to Gunung Berganding but the unpaved road proved to demanding for most cars so they turned back at Kg. Senta. This is a promising area for future trips although it is a bit far from Ipoh. Report by Ong B.K.
