I went for my first nature camp at the
Papan Forest Nursery. My friend, Law Wen Jan followed me. It
was the first time I went for a trip without my family.
When we reached the camp it was hot
and stuffy. There were also a lot of mosquitoes. It was more cooling at
night and not so many mosquitoes.
The night walk and jungle trekking were
the two events I enjoyed most. I was able to see many different plants
and insects. (I love to catch insects). The teachers taught us to put our
torch lights next to our right eye and we could see something like diamonds
? they were the eyes of the spiders. The jungle trekking was tiring
and quite frightening. Some parts of the paths were steep and slippery.
The part of the camp that I did not
like was taking bath with cold water. It was so cold and I had to take
the bath in a toilet. Not like the nice bathroom at home.
We made recycled paper and had other
activities like bird watching, doing the blind trail. I made some
new friends. That night we had to sleep in the dark because the generator
broke down. We all slept in a room with no walls. The teachers
slept on the tables and we slept on the floor.
I want to thank the teachers for looking
after me, cooking the meals and teaching us about nature and recycling.
