The plight of animals on exhibition - Kudos to Swee Yian
Fairly recently, an exhibition of animals was held at a shopping complex in Ipoh. In the eyes of a non-expert on wildlife, we saw animals in small enclosures, animals pacing anxiously, unnatural habitats (as far as our “expertise” or logic could tell), close proximity with the members of the public, animals on the endangered list and most appalling is that an injured animal was put on the exhibition.

The plight of the animals was brought to the attention of the authorities by Swee Yian, and to make a long story short the injured animal was confiscated and we understand that action was taken on the owner of the exhibition. We contacted the owner to put forward our observation but failed after two attempts, as the owner was seemingly busy though he was the one who made the appointments.

We thank and congratulate Swee Yian for at the least the injured animal was saved and at its very best, the message to all that we can and do make a difference.

We understand that the exhibition has been going on for more than 20 years and has been all around the country. Friends of nature, you can do your part by informing the MNS or any local NGOs should you come across any such exhibitions or situation that warrant our concern.

Your help, however small makes a difference.
