Mr. Ng Chang Chai led 19 participants to trek leisurely along an undulating disused logging track in a cool refreshing open country environment. While some members indulged in bird-watching others turned to nature appreciation. A beautiful grasshopper and an almost unnoticeable caterpillar was seen. The birders saw both the Grey rump and the Whiskered tree swift. The Vice-Chairman reports:
"19 members went on the half day trekking trip to Pos Slim on that sunny Sunday. It was a fruitful trip for all the participants. While trekking along the old logging track the trip leader was able to successfully expose the members to the sorry state of a logged out forest where soil erosion, mud slides and fallen trees were common sights. The cooler ambient temperature made trekking at this undulating logging track a pleasant endeavour. Despite the onslaught of the loggers the remaining vegetation however was able to offer us a place for some nature appreciation activities such as bird-watching and nature photography.
The sighting of tiger paw marks and wild boar hoof marks along the logging track certainly made the day for most of us. For sure luck was with the participants. It is not everyday that one gets to see tiger paw marks. Another highlight of the trip was a visit to a magnificent waterfall, measuring about 200 feet high. The spectacular view of the waterfall and the cool breezy atmosphere that surrounded us while we savoured our packed lunch under the canopy of the forest surely reminded all of us the beauty of our natural heritage."
