Soon after we pitched tents, we were joined by three more members when Mr Loo came in his boat with Ng Chang Chai and his son. As usual, we spent the rest of the evening swimming and the night fishing or just relaxing and chatting on the rocks. As Mr Loo brought along his car batteries and flourescent lamps, the campsite was well lit. Anyway, we were having clear skies and a full moon. We could almost walk on the rocks without any need for torchlights.
The following morning, Kok Kai, Dr Chan's son Hon Mun, Dr Kiew and his son, Gin went to another spot to fish. Later, Kok Kai trekked back to Teluk Gedong to lead two more members (Kok Choo and Iris Kok) to the campsite. He was accompanied by Mr Yeo (a "new" member who recently moved from Selangor to Perak) who had to go home early. Mr Loo wanted to leave for Pulau Sembilan too but the tide was too low for his boat and so we just sat around, talked and waited. We saw several white-bellied sea eagle hovering above us. A Southern Pied Hornbill also came and stayed for a short while. When the high tide came in, Mr Loo's group packed up and left. Dr Kiew and his son, Gin, hitched a boat ride from him to go home as he had to man his clinic the following day. Mr Loo left behind some groupers which he caught earlier. Together with a few more fishes caught by Kok Kai and Hon Mun, we could have a campfire and smoked fishes at night. So the rest of the day was spent swimming, trying to get more fishes and of course, gathering firewood! Kok Kai found a beautiful cicada behind the campsite (view it on the alternate website). It had some whitish, fluffy stuff on its belly that looked like cotton wool. That night the campfire actually worked and we had the smoked fishes too, although not quite enough. When we have finished eating the fishes, we just sat beside the fire and talked.
The following morning, we packed our things and just before we left, a family of four sea otters came. Although they were quite far away, I could see in my camcorder LCD one of the parents bringing back a fish to feed the two young pups and then diving into the sea for more. Then, we trekked back to Teluk Gedong and took a ferry to Lumut. On the way back to Ipoh, we went to Kg Cina for a seafood lunch to complete MNS's tradition. (Report by Dr. Chan Kai Soon)
