Activities Report 1999 Nov Newsletter
National MNS Annual General Meeting (Saturday
– Sunday 28 - 29 August 1999)
The main event and activity must be the
national AGM, which was held on 29 August 1999 in
Kuala Lipis, Pahang. There was an encouraging turnout of 223 participants.
The many exciting
activities including whitewater rafting seemed to be the draw, but
the participants will doubtless be all the more committed to Conservation
after appreciating the joyous wonders of Nature. The AGM was officially
opened by the Pahang State Exco for Rural Development YB Dato’ Hj. Omar
Hj. Othman. Three rainforest trees were planted by YB Dato’ Hj. Omar, Tuan
Hj. Husin (DO of Kuala Lipis) and our President Dato’ Salleh to commemorate
the occasion.
The AGM saw a very engaging discussion
on Conservation issues, in particular on the Sg Selangor Dam. Even though
members can communicate with the Society’s office bearers and the Secretariat
at anytime, the AGM is the primary occasion where there is an opportunity
to meet face to face. It is certainly hoped that even more members will
attend the year 2000 AGM in Penang.
