Introduction to Birdwatching in Fraser Hill (Saturday-Sunday 8-9 July 2000)

Phaik Imm, together with expert birders from Selangor, Glenda Noramly and Lim Aun Tiah, is organising a birdwatching course for beginners at this hill resort. Payment of RM25.00 is required for course materials and accommodation (4 persons per room) at Gap Rest House. Food and trans-port on your own. Branch AGM (4.30 pm. Saturday 15 July) & Slide Show/Talk
The branch AGM will be held on Saturday 15 July 2000 at 4.30 pm in the Neptune Room, Ipoh Swimming Club. Please keep these dates free as your participation is most welcome. Rose Abdullah or other HQ officers will be here to advise on the preparations on the National AGM to be held on 31 August – 3 September 2000 in Penang..
      As part of the Branch’s 30th celebrations the committee has gone to great lengths to make this a special and memorable occasion with an impressive program and has invited a distinguished speaker for the day, Datuk Lim Chong Keat who will give a talk entitled “Travels with Kunstler and other early botanists in Perak – Endangered Palms & Gingers” after the buffet dinner (please refer to AGM Notice). The AGM is expected to end at about 6.45 pm after which there will be a slide show of some memorable MNS trips by Mr. Cheang Kum Seng followed by a buffet dinner at 7.30 pm. Those who made bookings for the buffet dinner are  prioritised for the Mystery Tour the next day.
      The payment for the subsidised dinner is RM20.00 per member and RM15.00 for children 10 years and below. Please confirm your attendance by payment personally to Mr. Leow Kon Fah at Tun Razak Library (Office Tel. 2558073), Mr. Tan Ah Lai’s office at 9 Persiaran Greentown 7, Greentown Business Centre or any of the committee: Lim Swee Cheng at Taiko Building (2417844) and Helen Cheah at MAPA. You can also book through the telephone or e-mail and then send your cheque/Postal Order to the branch's P. O. address, not later than 10 July 2000 to avoid the occurrence of members turning up at the last minute. This will ensure that there is enough food for everyone who paid early.

Mystery Tour (Sunday 16 July 2000)

Meeting Place: Sam Poh Tong Pomelo stalls
Leader: Datuk Lim Chong Keat & Cheaw Hon Ming
Datuk Lim will share some of his expertise and knowledge on palms and gingers in a forest area. Be prepared with packed lunch, trekking shoes and suitable attire. Arrange your own transport – a 4WD would be most suitable. Minimum payment to drivers will be announced later.

Six-Mile Tunnel (Sunday 23 July 2000)
Time & Meeting Place: 8.00 am, Ipoh Garden Plaza

Participants will have to swim 100 meters across an old mining pool to reach the cave tunnel, where they have to wade through another 550 meters to reach a wang at the other end. For safety reason, all participants must be able to swim. No children are allowed. Participants must bring an inflated car tube, spare clothing, pack lunch, torchlight, drinking water in a waterproof bag.

Our Secretary is organising a concerted effort to spruce up our NERMC and branch office. Please volunteer to help realise our dream to serve you better. Light refreshments will be served.

Bidor Waterfall (Sunday 6 August 2000)

This will be a leisurely Sunday morning drive for a picnic and have a cool dip in the Bidor River. A little trekking will be organised for the more adventurous members. Bring suitable clothes and packed lunch. Bidor town is famous for guava and other fruits, chicken biscuits and duck soup noodles. Arrange your own transport or carpool. Suggested minimum payment to drivers – RM10..

Visit to Organic Farm (Sunday 13 or 20 August 2000)

This is a follow-up to Eric Rackl’s talk on Organic farming and to see how we use the natural method of farming to save cost and produce safer agricultural produce.

National AGM (31 August – 3 September 2000)
The National AGM will be held on 2 September 2000 in Caring Society Complex, Jalan Utama, Penang 2.00 – 7.00 pm followed by a dinner. The Penang Branch has plans for various activities from 31 August to 3rd September. Please keep these dates free as your participation is most welcomed. More information later from HQ.

Trek to Sg. Chiling, Kuala Kubu Baru (23 September 2000)
