Teluk Intan Fireflies (1-2 July 2000)
Trip Leader : Cheaw Hon Ming
DepartureTime & Meeting Place : Please confirm with trip leader 05-3128716 (H)
The firelies along the Perak River are rumoured to rival the Kg. Kuantan fireflies site if not better. Tentatively we will be leaving around noon and take a leisurely drive to Teluk Intan. On the way members can do a spot of bird watching. Hopefully we can also arrange a visit to a Plantation research station to learn about tissue culture (we may have to leave earlier). A seafood dinner should be on the agenda while supper will be optional. Hopefully we can also do a bit of owling. Simple basic accommodation will be arranged in Teluk Intan as it might be quite late to drive back. A fishing boat will be arranged for this event so a minimum charge of RM20.00 will be collected for the boat. Refund will depend on the number of participants. Cost of accommodation per person should be around RM20.00 on a shared room basis. Please call early to confirm participation.
Those who have not been to Teluk Intan should take time off and visit this quaint town and savour the local fare (mee rebus, seafood, heong peang, etc) and help spread the economic cake around. The next day’s program should not be a problem for the overnighters as a number of Teluk Intan members will us around. Please arrange your own transport or car pooling.
