Fellowship Night (7.30 pm Saturday 3 February 2001)
This year the committee has decided on a different venue. A pot-luck
dinner/gathering will be held at our Branch
Office/NERMC at 39-A Persiaran Sepakat 3, Taman Endah Jaya (above Fame
Hair Saloon on the way to Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple) to bring members closer
together. Those who are interested in participating please contact Alex
Kuan (Tel. 2535297) to avoid duplication and wastage of food. Please
ensure that halal food is served to our Muslim members. As the branch has
so far received 8 chairs and a sofa set as donations, seating is limited
and so it would be a casual affair. Bring along your own drinks (mini market
is just a few doors away).
Members who have news and photographic images to share should bring
them along and meet fellow members and the committee. Hopefully we can
have some special programs for the night and the day after.
Mystery Trip (Thaipusam - Wednesday 7 February 2001)
Please check the website or the Chairman in early February for any
possible trip. Members who have given their e-mail addresses will be informed
in due course.

and other rooms may not be available if you are late in making your mind
up. Bring along binoculars, field scope if available, trekking shoes, drinking
bottle, torchlight (powerful one if you have as we will be doing night
owling if weather and road condition permit), raincoat, hat, towel and

costs are on a shared basis. Suggested minimum payment to drivers RM10.00.
First Aid Course (Saturday-Sunday 24-25 February 2001)
Time & Place: Confirm with co-ordinator Ms. Lim Phaik
Lim (5261159 after 10 pm)
A course on basic first aid will be conducted by the Red Crescent Society
specially for MNS members who often actively participate in the MNS activities
which can be quite physical and injuries may be sustained. Very often injuries
are sustained in remote areas where immediate help rendered can alleviate
suffering or save lives. In such eventualities members who have a basic
knowledge of first aid would be most important in such times of need not
only to themselves but to others.
A small amount will be charged to purchase certain
first aid materials which will be kept by the participants. Please register
early for the course so that the coordinator can decide whether there is
a minimum number for the course.
RAPTOR WATCH WEEK 2001 (Sat 3rd – Tuesday 6th March)
Place: Tanjung Tuan (a.k.a Cape Rachado) in the state of Malacca
(Melaka). This is near the Blue Lagoon area of Port Dickson, which is a
beach resort. There is a lot of accommodation available in the area, of
varying cost, but be warned this is a holiday weekend. Free accommodation
and transport from Kuala Lumpur may be available to genuine volunteers
who can help in the counting.
If you are interested in what we are doing, just turn up. Once you
arrive at Tanjung Tuan, you will see the signs to the RWW booth. If you
would like to volunteer your time and expertise, then contact Glenda
Noramly, email: [email protected], MNS Bird Conservation Council, before
hand. She will post another reminder closer to the date.
Those who are interested can contact Molly Chew, our Bird Group
Coordinator 05-3211301(H) for further details and travel plans.
