MNS, Bird Conservation Council is pleased to announce this once a year popular natural phenomenon to the public for the third consecutive year since year 2000. MNS members from Perak , without failed, will continue to give this event a full support as recorded for the past 2 years.

Raptors, or birds of prey is one of the most spectacular birds in the world. Raptors currently faced a variety of human treats, most notably the loss of natural habitat.  They are also threatened by the widespread of pesticide, shooting, trapping & international poisoning and the wildbird trade. In this light, the Raptor Watch Week was introduced to  “ promote public support for the continued protection of Tanjung Tuan and key eco-tourism site by raising public awareness of the importance of this site for migrating raptors. “

Tanjung Tuan is recognized internationally in the recently published: A global directory of raptor migration sites by BirdLife International & Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, USA.  Incidentally, the area is also Melaka’s sole Important Bird Area candidate in Malaysia.

Let’s gathered to witness this spectacular sights of large numbers of raptors soaring on thermals over the Ilham Resort just beside Tg Tuan.  It can be considered as one of the world’s natural phenomenon. Not every part of the world & any part in Malaysia can see this hazardous migration over the Straits of Malacca with naked eyes.

While enjoying this special sighting, natural guided tour to the oldest lighthouse at Tg Tuan and marine guided tour to the sea front will be provided.  Exhibition on Marine Life raptor pictures, bird video etc. will be displayed.  At night, allow yourselves to enjoy the sea breeze or drive down to Port Dickson Town along the seashore whereby you will notice the Offshore Oil Refinery factory sparkling in the night with large flame keep shooting out of the long burner right in the middle of the sea.

Interested members can e-mail Phaik Imm for recommended accommodation at Port Dickson with reasonable price range.
