Jungle Trekking At Pos Slim (Tuesday - Nuzul Quran, 5 January, 1999)
Time & Place: 7.30am at IGB Plaza

This is a nature appreciation trip that requires a bit of uphill trekking
along an old logging track. Participants will be rewarded with crisp mountain air and a vantage view of Gunung Chabang from the top of a ridge am
idst a forest setting. Upon descending from the ridge through a forested
patch, the participants will be greeted with a magnificent waterfall towe
ring 200 ft high. Children under 12 are not recommended for this trip which is expected to be over by about 2.00 pm. Participants must backpack their own drinking water and lunch and should be properly attired with studded shoes or good jogging shoes. A good hat is necessary if you want to escape the midday sun on the return trek. Please arrange your own transport and confirm with trip leader for your participation.
Bird Count ( Week-ends 9 - 24 January 1999)

Bird coordinator Ooi Beng Yean will be conducting a series of bird counts
on Saturdays/Sundays of each weekend during this period to Ulu Dedap, Kuala Gula, Malim Nawar and/or other places. Those who are interested please call or check the homepage (if available).
Members' Night (Friday 15 January 1999)
Time: 8.00 pm
Venue: YMCA Lecture hall
Mr. Albert CS Seah from Highland Bee Marketing will be giving a talk on honeybees and bee-keeping. Anyone interested can learn from him. Albert will also like to inform you that he will display his organic fresh highland bee honey as a promotion.
Exploring the Dark Caves - Batu Caves, K. Lumpur (Sunday 17 January 1999)
Time & Place: 7.30 am sharp at IGB Plaza

Selangor Cave Group has promised us a special tour. Cave fauna are in abundance - racers, trapdoor spiders, centipedes, etc. Bath-room facilities are available for a small fee. Those interested please call trip leader early for instructions and car-pooling arrangements (suggested minimum payment to drivers RM20.00) as the tour of the caves will start at 10.00 am.
Late comers should drive straight to Batu Caves. Bring proper caving gear and extra clothes.
Teluk Harimau - Trekking, Camping, etc (Saturday-Monday 30 Jan - 1 February 99)
Time & Meeting Place: 3.30 pm at Lumut Jetty

This trip aims to cater to those who are interested in trekking and camping. Please arrange own transport from Ipoh to Lumut and back. Suggested minimum payments to car drivers - minimum RM10.00 per person or RM30/- per vehicle for fuel and parking. This trip is strictly for physically and medically fit adult members only. Participants are expected to backpack and trek for one and a half hours through a forest reserve to reach an isolated beach where the camp site will be located. To survive the long trip, participants must be self-sufficient in camping gear, food and water for two days, trekking shoes, swimsuit, torchlight, slippers and personal toiletry. Interested members should call Chan Kok Kai (5 - 8 pm) to confirm a place. Please check the homepage for more information. Those who intend to go by boat please inform the trip leader.
Marine Outing - Pulau Jarak (Saturday-Sunday 27 - 28 February 1999)

This is mainly a diving trip to one of the furthest island off Perak's coast. Participants are to be able to swim and be prepared to pass the night on the boat as the island is too rocky for camping. Places are limited (10 places) so please call early to confirm a place and carpooling arrangements.
Fellowship Night (Saturday 6 March 1999)
Time & Place: 8.00 pm Either at our Patron's Residence: 18 Jalan Kelab Golf (near Perak Turf Club) or Alex Kuan's Residence: 3 Jalan Batu Bungkal (next to Perak Girls School, Jln. Kampar).
Booking/Payment: Leow Kon Fah, Tun Razak Library or any committee member listed.
As usual each year we have a get-together buffet dinner cum fellowship night to strengthen the relationship between members. This year we will have it either at our Patron's Residence or in Alex Kuan's Residence one of our committee member's house. The cost for the halal dinner by Beacon Point is RM15.00 pax and RM10.00 for children 10 years and below.
New members should take this opportunity to interact with your committee and fellow members who share a common interest - Nature. Veteran members should also make that evening free and share your experience with the newer members. We hope sponsorship/donations are forthcoming during the festive season so that we can make that night an enjoyable one.
Please confirm your attendance by payment personally to Leow Kon Fah at the Tun Razak Library or any committee member. You can also book through the telephone or e-mail to the Chairman and then send your cheque/Postal Order to the branch's address, not later than 24 February 1999 to avoid the occurrence of members turning up at the last minute and ensure that there is enough food for everyone.
