This name might sound a bit bizaar to you, but in fact the story is pretty
interresting.
It all started at Hawequas Scout Ranch. We were having our troop camp and one of the activities on the programme was the Ice-cream Summit. On the first day we were given ice-cream, which we had to keep frozen until Saturday, when we had to climb to the top of the mountain and make a snow-man using the "frozen" ice-cream. The Programme ran smoothly until the obstacle course. The last part of the course was a arial runway into the dam. It was Springbok patrol's turn to do the course. David went down the arial runway and fell off and broke his arm. So the leaders rushed David to hospital, which was very far over gravel roads. This happened to be the same time as when we were supposed to go up to the Ice-cream Summit, so it was cancelled. They got back several hours later and the Summit was definately cancelled. This was a real bummer because we were looking forward to the activity. We had to write a song to sing when we had made our snow-men, but we had written them for nothing, well some of us had. They agreed to let us sing them at the campfire that evening instead. So now we had to write a song because we didn't have one. So... That night at the campfire I sang the verses and the rest of my patrol sang the chorus and "the tune", as it bacame known as. Everybody loved the snow-man song and it became a famous song in our troop. They even made me sing it at our A.G.M. For the words to this historic song with it's anoying tune can be found by clicking on the Snow-man button.
So if you ever hear the words "Ice-cream Summit" again, then you know what it is.And now that you know what it is then you can understand our story of "The Mystery of the Black Dot" |
