Family Name: Siluridae Species Name: TAPAH (Giant River Catfish) Wallago attu & Wallago dinema Bait/Diet : Fishes, Frogs, Crustaceans and shrimp(prawns), small animal and they usually feeding early in the morning and late afternoon during sunset. General Information: Found in Malaysian and Indonesian water(fresh water/river). Has caught few of them before in Sarawak(East Malaysia) - diving, fishing or netting. My record is about 25Kg caught with my cousin in 1996. It easily grow up to 2 metre lenght and more then 50kg in weight within few years. The size of the mouth could easilly swallow a size of dog. Easily found in Sungei Pahang in West Malaysia and Rejang River in Sarawak. During a raining season, this fish will enter a small river for feeding and trouble for more then 20Km in few hours. Young catfish use to live in the small river and will migrate to the bigger river when they grow up(adult).
