The Orang Utan

The Orang Utan also called Mawa is literally a "man of the woods".  It is a great ape with long reddish hair, that spends the most of his time on trees and not on the ground.  Orang Utans live in the forests of Sumatera and Kalimantan (Borneo).
Kalimantan Orang Utans are red brown and the Sumatera Orang Utans are paler, and more gingerly color. Kalimantan Orang Utans also have coarser hair.  The mature male has fleshy cheekpads and a penduluos throat pouch, and his voice can be heard for kilometers away.  His height reaches 125 cm and his weight is about 110 kg(the female weights about 55 kg).
Orang Utans eat insects, fruit, bark and leaves.  The femals virtually live the trees.  They live nomadic lifestyle depending to the food  availability.  They have solitary lifestyle unlike other monkeys or apes.
The current number of Orang Utans left in wild is around 20,000 and 27,000. They are the only big ape left in asia
and They are an endangered species.
