Course Overview

Course Description: This course explores concepts of population and ecosystem ecology relevant to environmental biology. The focus of this course will be the study of the environments of the Pacific region with a strong emphasis on the natural communities of Guam. Global and local issues include global warming and pollution, ozone disruption and its effects on the biosphere, deforestation, waste management, resource use and management, and species conservation.

Course Objectives: To provide students with a basic knowledge of the vocabulary, concepts, and issues that are the forefront of the environmental concerns that we deal with on a global, regional and local level.
