The City of Relean operates under the City Council form of government, an organizational framework that has grown widely in popularity since its inception in the 1910"s. Under the City Council Plan, the City Council serves as the Board of Directors for the City, with the Mayor as Chairman. The City Council sets policy guiding the city"s growth, development, and future. The City Council acts as the governing body of the city, with all the regulatory and corporate powers of a municipal corporation provided under Ilinois state law. In general, City Council supervises the operations of city government by establishing policies and programs and appropriating funds for each department. The City Council for the City of Relean is made up of five members, and these members are elected at large. City Council regular meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of each month, in Council Chambers at 300 Brunson Blvd.(adjacent to the old Cocoa Police Station) in Cocoa. |
