Smudge
The eleventh of July we went to Har Mar Pets again to get some ferret treats.
Guess what? !
There were ferrets there! ! ! Big surprise huh? ;-) We played
with them for a while, and were going to leave when this dark sable boy
caught our eyes. He had a brown nose and great big eyes. So Smudge joined
our growing family. Smudges' birthday is May 23, 1997 and he was about
seven weeks old when we bought him.
Smudge was a cry baby. He hated his little cage and wanted to be out with
the others. He cried when they played with him. He became Jessi's baby.
She would protect him from the other ferrets. He was a little furry terror.
Bizzy became his protector and would get between any ferret that had the
nerve to wrestle with Smudge. Smudge grew some and at three months weighed
two pounds. By this time we had gotten wise to his antics. Smudge is a
very vocal ferret. When wrestling whether winning or not he was crying.
We now have to get him to leave the others alone because he only knows
the word play, and not sleep.
He hated his halter the first time it was put on him, and it took him
a while before he would tolerate it. Smudge likes being outdoors, though
it is the only thing that makes him sleepy.
