Finnigan & Squiggy go to FerretQuest '99
This was our first time showing. We were so excited. We decided to take Finnigan and
our new 'baby' Squiggy.
Teeth were cleaned and nails were trimmed. We were ready to go. The night before the show the boys were given their first bath ever. They were very good about it too. So the next day we are off to the show. I didn't go with the boys during check in as I was helping unload the van. We also had a shelter ferret, Maggie, to adopt out and hammocks to sell.
As it was a bit of a wait until it was time for the boys to be show, I got to steward for my friend. I learned a lot from Melanie, especially what the judges are looking for. It was very interesting.
Finally it was time to show Finnigan. There were 194 entries in the Alters class in which he was entered. His scores were 67.0, 71.5 and 80.5, not too bad, but no ribbons. That was okay, there were a lot of nice ferrets.
Then it was Squiggy's turn. I had entered him in the Kit Breeder class as he wasn't neutered yet. There were only 15 entries in that class. Squiggy's scores were 79.0, 75.3 and 76.5. He received a ninth place ribbon and a second place ribbon. ;-) We were very pleased with his scores and he did very well with the judges. If you ever get a chance, show your ferret - at least on time. It's a blast.
