The
one circled was found in December 1998. We had one removed in October,
so the hair hasn't all grown back from the surgery. There is another one
that you can't see - yet - further up Scooter's tummy.
Since Scooter came back from the vet's office in December after not having surgery, he has been more active and playful. He just constantly amazes me.
This picture was taken on January 10, 1999.
Note how much it has grown.

A few pictures taken on January 23, 1999.
Taken at different angles, some with a digital camera.
We took Scooter in to see the vet January 26th. I wanted
a second opinion as to how Scooter is doing.
Our vet was surprised! 1) at how quickly the tumors
are growing 2) how well Scooter is doing.
Scooter still gets around and enjoys making sure his
tennis balls are where he thinks they belong and rough housing with Sammy.
He has a hard time with the litter boxes - possibly the wood pellets 'hurt'
because he's dragging those 'lumps' on the floor. So he's decided not to
use the boxes any more. Thankfully there is plastic runners under the litter
boxes and he goes near them. ;-)

Scooter isn't doing well. He's been eating very little
and I can feel his bones. His eyes aren't as bright anymore. Scooter wants
to be out of his cage, but wanders around and crawls into a favorite blanket
to sleep. On the 4th I held him and told him about the Rainbow Bridge and
that it was okay for him to leave us. He seems almost afraid to go. Possibly
Sammy is holding him here. I make the hardest phone call of my life, to
our vet, Dave, to have him help Scooter go. It hurts. I know it's the right
thing to do, but it's so hard. I had hoped he could go on his own.
March 5, 1999
Dave, our vet, came out at 2:00 p.m. to help Scooter
go over the Rainbow Bridge. We talked and held Scooter. Finally, I said
I was ready to let him go. I held Scooter on my lap, Larry gave him ferritone
while Dave gave him an injection. After a few breaths he was gone.
