Sophie seemed bored. We started talking about getting another ferretto keep her company. We saw some ferrets at Har Mar Pets. A while later we checked Har Mar again. They would be getting some in on the eighteenth of March[1997] Some time went by. Larry told me I could go out and get another ferret. I wanted to get a white one, but not an albino. First I looked at Family Pets. They had a large albino boy. He was okay, but didn't really"click" with me. I already had a name picked out too. Yukon, like Yukon Cornelius in the Rudolph movie. Besides Bumble wasn't a very good name I thought.
I then went to Har Mar Pets. They had just gotten some babies in that morning. Every one of them but one, was sleeping. He was a silver mitt. He sat and looked at me, I had to hold him. He wasn't bitey and was very affectionate, especially for a baby. I looked at his brothers and sisters. He wasn't happy about that at all. He kept telling me he was the one that wanted to go home with me. [You know the way they do that] Even one woman in the store thought he was the one for me. That is how Yukon came to live with us. The man in the store gave me a box to carry Yukon home in. Yukon wanted no part of the box. He was carried in the inside pocket of my jacket. When we got home, I didn't have a litter box ready in his cage yet. As soon as it was ready, Yukon used it, much to my surprise.
Yukon was so small that he fit in the palm of my hand. We kept him separate from Sophie for a while, until we knew she wouldn't kill him or anything. ;-) Yukon objected to being locked up in his cage and would cry to be let out and held. He spent a lot of time burrowing inside the sheets on our bed. Yukon loves his Tigger, a tiger stuffed animal, and hides it all around the room. Yukon is very affectionate and loves to go with when we go out.
Yukon's birthday is January 31, 1997. He was about six and a half weeks old when I bought him.

We took Sophie and Yukon to our friend Petes' shop one day. His exwife was admiring them and told us about her son's ferrets and how they never got out to play and that she was the one feeding them and cleaning up after them. She wondered if we would take them. Of course we said yes, but then her son decided he wanted to keep them, even if his mom was the one caring for them. That was okay, because we were working on getting another ferret at this time.
That ferret was Bizzaro Bandit.
