Solutions:

1)  Support reef friendly businesses.  Ask what coastal
businesses are doing to help save coral reefs.
2) Don't use chemically enhanced pesticides and
fertilizers.  Although you may live thousands of miles from
coral reef ecosystem, these products end up in the
watershed and may ultimately impact the waters that support
coral.
3) Volunteer for reef clean-up.
4)Learn more about the reefs.
5)Donate to a reef fund.
6) When visting a reef, help keep it healthy respecting all
guidelines, recommentations, regulations and customs.
7)Support conservation organizations.
8)Don't buy coral, don't even buy any animal from your pet
store.
9)Don't pollute.
10) Recycle no matter what-reuse first
11)Conserve water
12)report dumping.
13)Pick up own trash-and others.
14)No marine aquariums, marine fish harvested for pet trade
are stunned with sodium cyanide so capturing them is
easier.
15)Don't start a live rock aquarium.
16)Hire local guides when visiting coral reef ecosystems.
17)Don't anchor on reef. Use mooring buoy systems.
18)Don't touch-when diving, anything can damage delicate
coral animals. Stay off the bottom because stirred up
sediment can settle on coral and smother it.
19)Paricipate in Great American Fish Count.
20)Volunteer in coral reef monitoring programs.
21)Support the creation and maintenance of marine parks and
reserves.
22)  Be waste water crusader! The nutrients from sewage
feed growing algae that can smother and kill corals.
23)Inform yourself about existing laws, programs, and
projects that could effect coral reefs.
