The new offering eliminates the often complicated procedures associated with swapping data between a PDA and a Windows application, such as recalling file names and directories. Clipboard Link software for Windows quickly and easily brings Zaurus data to a desktop PC. By identifying an entry in the Zaurus and pressing the infrared Send button, the information is instantly transmitted by infrared beam to the Actisys Infrared receiver connected to the Windows PC. Clipboard Link software then automatically detects the incoming beam and places the received data into the Windows Clipboard. The user simply selects the Paste function from the edit menu of any Windows application and the Zaurus entry appears. Even a complex document on the Zaurus with images, formatted text, and a handwritten signature can be easily transferred to a word processing program such as Word for Windows®. Sending information from a Windows application to the Zaurus via infrared beam is just as easy. To do so, users simply copy text into the Windows Clipboard, select send from the Clipboard link software, and press the get button on the Zaurus. "Zaurus Application Partner offers an easy way to share data with Windows applications," said Mary Repke, director, Sharp Consumer Business Products Group. "It is a simple solution that transforms the Zaurus into a virtual extension of a Windows PC," she added. Zaurus Application Partner includes the Actisys infrared receiver, Zaurus data exchange utility for Windows and Clipboard Link software. It will be available in late April 1996. Sharp anticipates that retailers and resellers will sell the Zaurus Application Partner for about $199. For more information, call 1-800-BE SHARP.
