This is the transcript from the Zaurus Software conference 16/9/1996 It starts when I entered the Forum and ends the same way. (Joseph Sanchez)I heard something about a door prize. :) (George Czajkowski) Ann - are you using Zaurus to participate? How is it? (Rupp Technology Cor) We will be giving away three prizes tonight. $50 certificate good for any purchase from us as well as two Rupp Software packages. ( Ann@Indiana) No George. I'm on my PC ( George Czajkowski) Is anybody then participating in this conference via Za urus? ( Joseph Sanchez) I wish I was. :) ( Randy Zeigler) Not I, can't get ahold of an AC Adaptor yet, batteriees won't last. (Randy Zeigler) Backordered at Rupp... (George Czajkowski) Randy - try lithium batteries, if you did not yet. (Ann@Indiana) (Randy Zeigler) I have, work well. About six weeks, great! (Ann@Indiana) Yes . . I have been using lithium batteries with a pc card modem. Have over an hour and a half on them of modem use. (Ann@Indiana) I thought Janet was going to join us via Z? (Joseph Sanchez) why is it so hard to get a hold of one of those things?? (Joseph Sanchez) adaptor that is (Rupp Technology Cor) Randy: If you ordered the AC adapter a while ago, you should have it any day. (Rupp Technology Cor) You should receive it then. We had 800 ac adapters come in and 835 orders...all were processed in the order received. (Randy Zeigler) Good news, should have ordered two! (Rupp Technology Cor) Well, my name is Scott Glasgow. I have worked for Rupp for about five years handling all online activities including our web pages as well as participating with our development group, marketing etc. I am also a Zaurus user.. (George Czajkowski) ? (Bo lorentzen SYSOP) Scott, George is up (George Czajkowski) Can you talk about posiible future projects/plans, software or just announced ones? (Ann@Indiana) ? (Rupp Technology Cor) If they are Rupp related, I always slip out a little information, but only when people understand that this is unofficial and what I say may change. (George Czajkowski) ? (Randy Zeigler) ? (Bo lorentzen SYSOP)Ann is next (Ann@Indiana) What new products are shipping now? (Rupp Technology Cor) Obviously anything I know about Sharp and their developments I cannot discuss.... (Rupp Technology Cor) Ann..SyncroLynx, RuppLynx 3.1, Z-Calc, Z-Finance, and Z-Games from us. Z-Flash should start shipping within the next few weeks. (Ann@Indiana) Z-Flash? (Rupp Technology Cor) Yes, Z-Flash is sort of an edutainment type application with lots of possibilities. It mimicks those flash cards used for math and what not. (Ann@Indiana) Thanks Scott (William T. Bugg) ? (Leslie D.) Just got here...are you planning version of Z-Finance that would handle investments as does Quicken? (Rupp Technology Cor) Leslie: We are currently discussing future plans for Z-Finance...so nothing concrete right now. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP) George you are it again (Leslie D.) Thanks (oops guess you're supposed to use a ? to get in line!) (George Czajkowski) Any plans than for Internet software - text based browser, mailer, newsgroup reader? How about book reader? Bible? Are any of these being discussed/planned/worked on at Rupp? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP) Thanks Leslie (Rupp Technology Cor) BTW, for those of you with web access, our site at http://www.rupp.com/ (newly improved) has a link to send product suggestions...everyone at our company tied to development including myself and the CEO see the messages. On the Internet software...yes..first application we are working on is Z-Mail which will be to dial-in to a SLIP/PPP account using the POP3 protocol to do email. From there, anything is possible. (George Czajkowski) ? (Rupp Technology Cor) Book reader was an application in design two years ago, but is on hold. Unfortunately I do not have anything I can tell you about this. We have gotten a lot of requests for it though. Bible is also in discussion phase.....but nothing conc rete. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Randy you are next (Randy Zeigler) Currently I use Rupplynx 3.01, does 3.1 give me anything for the Zaurus above and beyond 3.01? By the way, Z-Calc is a great SW add-on! Your WWW site is excellent. I like the SW updates. (Rupp Technology Cor) Randy: 3.1 is a big improvement. First benefit is support for the 5800. Multiple data sets, Lotus Organizer 2.1 and ACT 2.x are supported. (Leslie D.) ? (Rupp Technology Cor) Thank you for the web site comment. I am directly responsible for that and love the comments. It will only get better...more shareware/free software, online ordering and more. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)William you are next (William T. Bugg) Do you know when CCZ is supposed to ship? I'm anxiously awaiting the copy I ordered. BTW, I'm also interested in Bible software. (Rupp Technology Cor) BTW, everyone say hi to Becky who is standing here helping me. She will be the one who will be handling all the online communications on here soon. (William T. Bugg) Hi Becky. (Rupp Technology Cor) CCZ? Compuserve Companion for Zaurus? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Hi Becky Welcome (Ann@Indiana) Hi Becky!!! (Randy Zeigler) Hi Becky! (William T. Bugg) Yes. (Rupp Technology Cor) Unfortunately I don't..sorry. I am checking into it though. As soon as I have word, I will try to post a message. (Jeremy Howard) ? (William T. Bugg) Thanks. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)George you are next (George Czajkowski) What kind of obverhead (CPU hit, memory requirements) do you anticipate with TCP/IP stack (Internet mail app you just mentioned)? I do not mean firm figures (too early for that) just a general idea. Will Z1 and Z2 be able to handle it as an add-on software? (Rupp Technology Cor) Most announcements get posted to our web site first... so keep an eye on it..and any comments or suggestions on the web page should be sent to me here or webmaster@rupp.com (Rupp Technology Cor) George: Unfortunately I cannot answer that yet. I am expecting a pre-ALPHA version shortly to play with. I will be constantly in touch with this project since I handle all of our internet related stuff. To give a rough estimate....no more than around 200 (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)OK Leslie you are Next (Leslie D.) Was also super impressed with the web site improvements. Is there an upgrade version from Rupplynx 3.01 to 3.1? i.e. do we have to pay the full price? I've been using it since a beta version last summer! (Rupp Technology Cor) The upgrade from RX 3.01 to 3.1 is 29.99. Hopefully upgrade prices will drop since we will incorporate RTPatch soon. We will start using this for RuppLynx 4.0 (which will be 32-bit) (Leslie D.) P.S. It's a great program! (Rupp Technology Cor) Leslie: RuppLynx is the best out there in my opinion, but it isn't the best it can be. We are constantly trying to come up with ways to make it better. A lot of the improvements you have seen have some from customer feedback via our web page. (ERD) ? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Jeremy You are next (Rupp Technology Cor) RuppLynx in combination with Intellilink/DEU is a big advantage. (Jeremy Howard) Any idea of when the POP3 client will be available?--This is my number one wish at the moment (along with a program like Clipboard link which supports IRDA, picture fields, spreadsheets, and Expense Manager...) Do you have any plans to add IRDA support to RuppLynx (is it technically feasible to use IRDA for PC->Z communications?) (Rupp Technology Cor) Well, we plan on releasing Sept/Oct 96 but so far we are ahead of schedule...so anything is possible. (George Czajkowski) ? (Rupp Technology Cor) As for IrDA, we are working hard at trying to implement this, but there are some quirks we are trying to work out. I want IrDA speed more than anyone.....I hate waiting for the uploads/downloads to my Zaurus. I am even thinking of porting ZUtil to use IrDA just for speed. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP) ERD you are next (ERD) The Rupp applications seem excellent but you seem to have a virtual monopoloy on Zaurus software development. Why is there so little software for the Z machines (both commercial and shareware) when companies like Apple, Psion and Geoworks have many many developers (Rupp Technology Cor) ERD: Actually there are a number of companies with the ability to develop for the Zaurus. We specialize in the Zaurus so it appears we monopolize the arena...but it really isn't true. You should see an SDK someday soon I would imagine. (Jeremy Howard) ? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)George You are next (Rupp Technology Cor) Also, Newton, Psion and GEOS has been around for years..Zaurus Synergy is only about 2 years old. (ERD) The reason I ask is that I've been hearing about a Zaurus SDk for months and months and still it does not appear...How could an end-user write an application (maybe I should ask Sharp...) (George Czajkowski) Are there any other Zaurus software plans you can maybe briefly mention here? Also: are you saying that a software based SDK - inexpensive and meant for general use - is in the works??? (Rupp Technology Cor) Unfortunately, you really can't write an application for the Z (officially) without the ICE. There was a press release that had mentioned an SDK towards the 3rd or 4th qtr this year. (3-14,David A. Nelson) ? (Rupp Technology Cor) George: As far as I know there is...like I said, I had come across a press release somewhere that mentioned one for late 96.....one of the Zaurus press released.... (ERD) Thanks for the response. For my $0.02, I think Sharp will find it difficult to grow its market as long as an ICE is required for development - end users simply can't write applications due to cost barriers. Thanks again. (Rupp Technology Cor) George: What kind of software plans? We have quite a few projects underway....most of them I can't men>tion except for the ones I have stated so far.. (George Czajkowski) Oh well, I understand... (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Jeremy you are next (Jeremy Howard) Do you have any further info about the SDK--a pointer to the PR perhaps? (why couldn't you develop for the Z using the Z rather than an ICE--like the Wizard Basic addon) (Rupp Technology Cor) ERD: And they know this true. Don't forget that there are a lot of things that go on behind the walls at companies that users like us do not know about. Sharp will dominate the market much more than they do now in the future I think. Takes time to position things...even for us at Rupp...the 9000 you saw 3 apps from us and for the Zaurus we already have a lot more than that. Jeremy: I'll have to search around for it at work. I am not even sure where I saw it..I think on another service. The best person to ask on an SDK is Scott Campbell. He would know if they are going to release one and will say so if he can talk about it. (Randy Zeigler) ? (ERD) They should have a look at the amount (I know quantity is not everything) for machines like the Newton and the Psion 3a - there are literally thousands of applications, many free of charge. Sorry to flog this but I believe Sharp is shooting themselves in the foot. Have Rupp ever considered writing for another platform ? (sorry for this unsolicited Q) (Rupp Technology Cor) ERD: I understand what you are saying..and Sharp hears this all the time. Like I said...this will all change....I would almost bet on it. Our development partners write for many platforms. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)David you are next (ERD) I understand. Thanks a lot. (Rupp Technology Cor) PDA market is tough...look at Microsoft..its taken them 4 years since they announced something and still they don't have anything really. (David A. Nelson) on my Z now had it for 48 hours, what please is SDK (Rupp Technology Cor) Newton has taken a lot of bumps....and still does...ithas its pros and cons like anything else. (Rupp Technology Cor) SDK is Software Development Kit (ERD) I think we agree. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Randy you are next (Randy Zeigler) Any developement plans for a RuppLynx type SW for the MAC? I'm PC based at home and MAC in the Office. I use the Sharp SW on the MAC, but would prefer a RuppLynx format for my Powerbook. (David A. Nelson) Thanks Just trying to follow discussion on this itty screen (Rupp Technology Cor) I've used quite a few of the different PDAs..and I tried hard to like Newton, HP, and the GEOS...but they just didn't stack up. I loved the software... Randy: Unfortunately not. I've tried pushing that but resources have been tied up in other areas. In another year, who knows though. We have a lot of development talent now. (Randy Zeigler) Thanks, I'll wait. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Augie you are next (ERD) I agree. I believe that the Newton and the GEOS machines are bloated and slow. I'll not bore you with my opinion of DOS (thus HP200)... (3-20,Augie) It seems like the thrust of the Zaurus and RuppLynx is to increase the Z's usefulness as a link to the PC. "Exchanging" or "accessing" data from a PC is only a weak solution to the problem of remote availability of data. I'd like to know if RUPP, or anyone else for that matter, has remote-control software so that one could use the Zaurus to act as a remote "dumb terminal" (like a pcANYWHERE remote site) and control an office PC from the road. If not, do you know if this is or will be made available by a third party? This would put the Z miles ahead of any competition that sought to develop individual apps for it's platform, since remote control of ANY app on a DOS or WINDOWS platform would be equally useful. (Rupp Technology Cor) Unfortunately no. We use remote access software extensively...but this type of software would heavily tax the Zaurus I think. (Jim C.) But what about this mysterious icon named REMOTE in the Z2? (Rupp Technology Cor) I want a total wireless solution...access the net, e-mail, company network...the whole package. (Rupp Technology Cor) Jim: that is for linking remotely via modem. And I am embarrased because that is one thing I have yet to try. (ERD) ? (Augie) Too bad! I think that it would be a complete office in your pocket if it could ever do that trick. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)ERD You are next. (ERD) There is a lot of talk about a mythical 'killer app'. Scott, what do you think is the killer PDA application ? (Augie) FWIW, my killer app would be REMOTE-CONTROL!!! (Rupp Technology Cor) ERD: I don't think one "application" can be a killer app. Everyone is different...everyone does things differently. I think until we have a very robust, developable, PDA that is totally wireless from almost anywhere, and can truely be an extension of the desktop, we will be waiting. (George Czajkowski) ? (Andy Rathbone) ? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)George you are next (ERD) I think remote control of a PC-sized screen on a Z screen would be taxing and of limited value - even pcAnywhere has annoyances which make it unuseable for me... Still, I understand what you are saying Augie. Thanks for your response, Scott. (Rupp Technology Cor) IT will be a long time before we have PC power in a PDA..that is why we have laptops. PDAs are meant to be extensions..and we have yet reached that point IMHO. (George Czajkowski) How do you see future of PDAs? Do you see it becoming everybody's tool, like credit card today? (Randy Zeigler) ? (ERD) What about RISC. I think we'll have PDA which outperform the slower Pentium PCs in 9 to 12 months. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)/wi lwarn 15 (Tina Rathbone) ? (Jim C.) That'll take a big battery, ERD. (Rupp Technology Cor) A credit card is not everyones tool today...and not everyone has a use for a PDA (in there eyes). Before I started at Rupp, I almost bought a Casio..but decided against it. When I saw a sneak peek of the 9600, I was excited...I thought I could actually use it. When Newton came out, I tried to use that just for the software....I think people have to make up there own mind. Once the PDA handles more tasks, then perhaps it will be needed by all. (ERD) ?What is the meaning of this SYSTEM message ? (Rupp Technology Cor) RISC could take it...but I think it will be a better chip that will help create the PDA market into a revolution. (Leslie D.) .... soon we'll all need a palm the size of Shaq O'Neill's! (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Andy you are next (Andy Rathbone) The Thinkpad seems to be the hottest laptop on the market, and the Zaurus is the hottest PDA. But trying to link the two using the IR ports is murder! (Rupp Technology Cor) When a PDA can help you check your account balance, stock portfolio, identify you, send payment or withdrawal cash from an ATM...not everyone will "need" a PDA. Almost everyone can use one though. (Andy Rathbone) Any chance of a simple utility to make things easier? (David A. Nelson) ? (Tina Rathbone) I hear from very good sources that CompuServe will virtually eliminate Terminal (text mode) access in the coming future. Even though we have the CIS applet now, we can't log on as fast as in terminal mode. (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: So I have heard. I actually got a hold of one for a day and had not problem. All you have to do is make sure you configure the IR for the Sharp ASK protocol. Once we have IrDA support in the PC links, it will be easier. (Rupp Technology Cor) Tina: That is true. They announced that last year. (Tina Rathbone) OOps. I'm very sorry about accidentally hitting the enter key. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)That is OK Tina you are Next anyway. (Andy Rathbone) So you got it to work? I've been fiddling with the thing for days! (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: Unfortunately, you have to use whatever software that comes with the laptop to configure anything. (Jim C.) Andy, I communicate IR daily with my TP & Z2. Lets get togther in the forum & maybe I can help you. (Andy Rathbone) Did you use Sharp's DEU software? (Tina Rathbone) My question is: what will all the users of PDAs do? (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: I used DEU and RuppLynx...and the install program too I think. (ERD) ?Can someone please tell me what this SYSTEM message meant "Your behaviour is unacceptable"... (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)ERD it was from me. and means "please do not break in repeatedly". (Rupp Technology Cor) Tina: What do you mean? Can you elaborate? (Tina Rathbone) Yes; how will PDA users access CIS if they can't use a quick 'n' dirty ASCII mode to log on? According to my sources, CIS will be all-WEB very soonly. (ERD) ?Thanks. You could have just said that instead of the heavy hand ? (Rupp Technology Cor) Tina: That platform will have to have a client for CIS like the Zaurus has. (3-4,JPeelgren) ? (Rupp Technology Cor) Tina: All web? If that is true, then in the future it will be accessible with any web browser...but somehow I doubt they will go all web. at least in the next year or two. (Tina Rathbone) Okay, but I forsee wails of anguish from Zaurii and other P DA users! (Rupp Technology Cor) Perhaps we can give away one of those 3 gifts. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)OK let"s do it. (Ann@Indiana) .I think the prizes should go to the ladies (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP) (Ann@Indiana) LOL (Rupp Technology Cor) hehe naw...I'll try to think of something. George, do you have any off the top of your head? You get all the stuff anyways (Leslie D.) Right on! (Rupp Technology Cor) so I doubt we have anything you need. (Jim C.) Ann, I'll drink to that. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)OK george you ask. first right wins (Tina Rathbone) pardon me, but did someone say, Prizes? (Ann@Indiana) Make mine ice tea Jim (George Czajkowski) Related to released RUPP software? (Rupp Technology Cor) George: Anything Zaurus related. Don't say the question yet though. Just tell us how many you can think of (George Czajkowski) OK, what is the keyboard shortcut for printing an entry? (Andy Rathbone) P (Jim C.) Ann, boooooring. (Rupp Technology Cor) I have to figure out which order to give the stuff away (David A. Nelson) I couldn't get in the conoops congeooops again, the conference with the software installed. Any plans to have more versatile CIS access. (Ann@Indiana) 2nd P (George Czajkowski) Soory, you were too slow, Scott.. (JPeelgren) 2nd + P (Rupp Technology Cor) Whoa.>George...that was what I was thinking! (Andy Rathbone) Hey, I was close enough! (Rupp Technology Cor) Ann got it. (Ann@Indiana) Yay!! (George Czajkowski) Ann@Indiana was firsat with correct answer! (Rupp Technology Cor) Ok Ann....any Z-Apps or RuppLynx 3.1 or SynchroLynx you want? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Way to go Ann (Jim C.) Way to go women! (William T. Bugg) Great Ann! (Andy Rathbone) The games are cool, Ann! (Tina Rathbone) Uhh, could we have more advance warning on the next one? I thought we weren't supposed to guess right away .... (JPeelgren) Are we still taking questions? (George Czajkowski) Want more questions, Scott? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)David you are next (3-10,Ann@Indiana) Thanks Scoot. Don't know what I want. (Rupp Technology Cor) Ann, you can have a $50 gift certificate if you wish. (3-8,David Nelson) I wasn't able to access the conference on my Z via installed software and had to go on in terminal mode. Same with answering mail on line. Any changes possible or planned? (George Czajkowski) QUESTION #2: How many accounts are supported by Z-Finance? (Ann@Indiana) 5 (Rupp Technology Cor) But if you want the gift certificate, I have to know now so I don't give it away now. (Andy Rathbone) 3 (Rupp Technology Cor) Dang.....Ann is fast (Ann@Indiana) No not gift certificate (George Czajkowski) Ann@ Indiana, you already got your prize. Let's give somebody else a chance! (Rupp Technology Cor) Ok Ann. (3-10,Ann@Indiana) AOL expierence (Andy Rathbone) 5 (ERD) ?Actually, I have to go. Thanks for all your help Scott - keep up the good work and apologies for disrupting the conference so much. In the absence of any guidance, I thought it was a free-form discussion. (Rupp Technology Cor) ERD: no problem and thank you for stopping by!!!!!! (Lloyd Wasser (Sysop) Hi, Scott! How are you? (Rupp Technology Cor) Hi Lloyd! (George Czajkowski) Scott, do we give price to Andy Rathbone? (Ann@Indiana) LOL (Rupp Technology Cor) How have you been? How are things stranger? (Lloyd Wasser (Sysop) I got here really late.. sorry. (Rupp Technology Cor) Yes George (Tina Rathbone) Yeah! He's got another Loyal Zaurus user in the Family!! (George Czajkowski) OK, Andy you got it! (Andy Rathbone) Yay! (Ann@Indiana) Boo hiss (Tina Rathbone) Yayyyyy!!! (Lloyd Wasser (Sysop) I'm doing well. Looks like Rupp is doing well, also. (Rupp Technology Cor) We are improving and moving along...lots of work....but we are trying. (Lloyd Wasser (Sysop) sounds great. Congrats on your new packages for the Zaurus. (Rupp Technology Cor) Thank you Lloyd. Have you seen them? I never sent them did I? Do you have a Z at all? (Rupp Technology Cor) One more George (Andy Rathbone) I just bought the Rupp games and Synch+ last week -- so what prize should I choose? Lloyd Wasser (Sysop) No, I haven't seen them yet. (JPeelgren) Two questions actually...(1) can Wizard software (games card) be migrated to my Z and, if so, how? AND (2) what is DEU? (Lloyd Wasser (Sysop) But they sound amazing. (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: here are the choices. $50 certificate, RuppLynx 3.1 Z-Flash, Z-Calc, Z-Finance (Rupp Technology Cor) DEU is Data Exchange Utility...and Z-Games for the 9000 was ported to the Zaurus. (JPeelgren) Go with RuppLynx 3.1...It's great! (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Jim you are next (Andy Rathbone) Okay, RuppLynx it is! (I hope it works with Ecco, because that's what my wife uses...) (Rupp Technology Cor) Lloyd: Email me with what you want to see and I will get you copies...at least RuppLynx and SynchroLynx (Schedule Plus 95 only) if you don't have a Z so you can see it. (Jim C.) Scott, can you tell us about you new web site? (Lloyd Wasser (Sysop) Thanks, scott. much appreciated. (JPeelgren) It was ported in the form of Z-Games? I don't want to pay for it again...What does Data Exchange Utility do for me if I have Rupplynx? (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: No, not directly. It does CSV though....and Intellilink supports translation of ECCO (Andy Rathbone) Er, uh, isn't Intellink a competitor? (Rupp Technology Cor) Jim: What do you want to know? Where I am heading with it? Have you seen the new site that went up on Friday? (,Jim C.) I heard rumors of a new one that could take orders, is this it? (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: I don't view Intellilink as a competitor..and even if they were, I would rather make sure you have what you need than sell you something you don't. I think anyone that knows me can tell you my reputation in this area is straight forward (JPeelgren) I have a Games card from my (now) old Wizard. I would like to move the games to my Zaurus without having to pay for Z-games software. Can I do this for free? I will visit your Web site next time I surf!! (Chuck) Rupp: I have Rupplynx 2.5 what does it cost to upgrade to 3.1? (Rupp Technology Cor) Jim: The new site is up, but the online ordering isn't. I am going to start integrating an online catalog/ordering system..I just have to work out a problem I have with the SSL security. (Rupp Technology Cor) JPeelgren: Unfortunately no. You might contact Candy in our sales dept and see if she can work something out in trade for you. (George Czajkowski) Scott, just say when. I have the third question ready.... (Rupp Technology Cor) Chuck: 29.99 (Rupp Technology Cor) George: When =) (George Czajkowski) QUESTION #3: Name games included in Z-Games package. (JPeelgren) How about the moving software from a Wizard card to Zaurus software (without $$$)? (Chuck Haskins) Thanks, (Ann@Indiana) er . . uh . . . (Andy Rathbone) Draw poker, Domination, and Code breaker. (Rupp Technology Cor) JPeelgren: It cannot be done. The 9000 and Zaurus use different operating systems. (Andy Rathbone) And Domination supports two players! (Leslie D.) draw poker domination and code breaker (George Czajkowski) Andy, you already won! (Rupp Technology Cor) Leslie got it (Ann@Indiana) LOL . .way to go leslie. (Andy Rathbone) Whoops! :-( (Leslie D.) Yah!!!! (Ann@Indiana) Shoulda just gave the women the prizes . . much better typists (Leslie D.) Hey Ann -- great night for the ladies! (George Czajkowski) Scott, are you up for #4? (Rupp Technology Cor) George: hold on (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Great Leslie (George Czajkowski) Leslie got the third prize! Congarts! (Rupp Technology Cor) Leslie, Andy...any of you want $50 gift certificate or are you going with software? (Jim C.) Good job, Leslie. (Andy Rathbone) I'll take the certificate -- we'll probably use it for a cable or some cool pens or something fun! (Tina Rathbone) Yay! Leslie! (Rupp Technology Cor) Ok Andy. You can use it towards shipping and everything. (Leslie D.) Give me a moment to think! (Ann@Indiana) Andy-Tina . . are you in seperate rooms or what? (Andy Rathbone) Great! (Tina Rathbone) Yeah; we're computer geeks! (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)My kind of people (Rupp Technology Cor) heh (Ann@Indiana) LOL . . hard to make little geeks that way (Tina Rathbone) ROFL!!! (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)That is what power downs a are for. (Rupp Technology Cor) OK...George..we can do a fourth...this is for a Z-App or RuppLynx or SynchroLynx. (3-9,Leslie D.) I'll go with Z-finance please! (JPeelgren) LOL??? ROFL??? (Ann@Indiana) Laugh out loud (Tina Rathbone) Laughing out loud; Rolling on the Floor, Laughing. (Ann@Indiana) IRC? (Leslie D.) Thanks a lot scott -- standing up and cheering! (Ann@Indiana)Hard to make little geeks that way (Andy Rathbone) Hey, we're networked! (Leslie D.) Good night all! (Ann@Indiana) LOL again Andy :-) (George Czajkowski) QUESTION #4: What heyboard shrotcut allows user to switch between12-hr and 24-hr time format in Daily and Weekly view of Activities? (Rupp Technology Cor) Everyone who won a prize must email me to claim it! Include mailing address, phone and name. 75300,1232 or sglasgow@rupp.com (Tenny Lindholm) [C (Jim C.) Thanks for contributing, Leslie. (Rupp Technology Cor) Good night Leslie (Tenny Lindholm) [C1 (George Czajkowski) What do you mean by your answe, Tenny? (Rupp Technology Cor) Wow....if I would have known George would come up with this good of an answer, I would have tried to remember to get a Zaurus to give away. (,KAI) t (George Czajkowski) Anybody knows? If I know the answer, do I get a prize too? (Tina Rathbone) press the 2 key, and then the hyphen (George Czajkowski) Tina is CORRECT! (KAI) [C (KAI) [D (3-15,KAI) [Dt (3-15,KAI) t (Tina Rathbone) Yayyy!!! (Andy Rathbone) Go get 'em, Tina! (Jim C.) Great job, Tina! (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Way to go Tina (Ann@Indiana) Andy looked it up and she typed it!!! Not fair!! :-) (Tina Rathbone) I want to try out RuppLynx, please! (Rupp Technology Cor) Ok Tina. You have to email me your name, address and phone number with the Z-App or Link software of ours you want. (Andy Rathbone) Now, now! (Rupp Technology Cor) RuppLynx it is (KAI) go rupp (Tina Rathbone) I'll compare the upcoming Intellilink syncro-ecco product and write a mini-software review for you all. (Jim C.) Kai, we can read you. (KAI) ATZ (Rupp Technology Cor) So, I have a question for everyone. Who in the last 3 months has dealt with us via phone and/or web/email and what are your comments? Reason I ask is...we recently moved, new office, new phone system, expanded tech support last week and expanded sales this week and I want to make sure we are improving. And our apologizies to all who have had problems getting to us in those times. (Ann@Indiana) ;<~~ not me . . I use the forum for my dumb questions (Andy Rathbone) I bought the Game Pack and SynchPlus last week and had it shipped overnight without problems. (George Czajkowski) Bo, are we wrapping this up? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Yeah I think that this is about the time (Randy Zeigler) I bought Z-calc two weeks ago, on-hold 30 seconds, shipped with no problems. (Rupp Technology Cor) Does this mean we have after hours now? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Yes. Scott this is after hours. please stay as long as you like to. (Randy Zeigler) Means we all go to IRC. (Jim C.) Scott, I've done all and you are well above average compared to other PDA companies. In my view you are the standard. (Ann@Indiana) AOL (Rupp Technology Cor) Randy: You use IRC? (Tina Rathbone) Scott, thanks for supporting this fab PDA with your personal time (the forum) as well as your cool products. I'm sure I speak for all of us. (Ann@Indiana) What 's IRC? (Randy Zeigler) Yes, I do. MIRC (Rupp Technology Cor) Jim: Thanks...but we don't want to be standard. How can we improve? (Rupp Technology Cor) MIRC? Well it is the best windows IRC client..but nothing beats Unix IRC II ;) (Tenny Lindholm) +++qACd (Jim C.) Maybe more forum files on use of your aps. (Rupp Technology Cor) IRC is internet Relay Chat...lots of people. (George Czajkowski) Scott, on the official note and on behalf of all us here, I would like to thank you for a great evening. Excellent work! (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP) Yes thank you for beeing here Scott. Please come back soon. (Ann@Indiana) I've heard of it. . . . still long distance for me. (Rupp Technology Cor) Jim: That will come. That is mainly my fault and I apologize. (Ann@Indiana) Yes thanks Scott. I'll decide on my prize and get back to you. (Rupp Technology Cor) George. And thank all of you for having me. First time in 4 years we have done this with me. I do the "other" service a lot. (Jim C.) I know what you mean, not enough time in the day. Bo & I will help along with forum members. (Rupp Technology Cor) Ann: No rush...just let me know. Perferably in the next week. (Ann@Indiana) Geez . . no rush he says . . (,George Czajkowski) We have to meet with you here again then! (Randy Zeigler) Thanks Scott, and to the Sysops thank-you. Good-night. (Tina Rathbone) You mention IRC, Scott; do you have a Zaurus channel set up? (Rupp Technology Cor) BTW, whoever mentioned a review to post, just so everyone knows, I would like any review people you do on our products. I ran out of reviews and need more to post on our web pages to give users a users view of our products. (Rupp Technology Cor) Good night Randy and thanks for stopping by. (George Czajkowski) Bo, please remember about the transcript, OK? (Jim C.) Ann, does it connect to the Z yet? (Tina Rathbone) Scott, do you send out eval copies? ;) (Ross J. Westgate) RUPP: I called a week ago asking for a catalog and was told that one would be faxed to me. None was. Could you have one faxed to (514) 845-8812. (Tina Rathbone) (Actually, now that we both won something, I think we have everything you make, between us!) (Rupp Technology Cor) Tina: I had a Wizard/Rupp forum a few years ago with a but I was working on but kind of got busy and forgot about it. I (Rupp Technology Cor) always have a login on IRC although I am normally not there. I leave a login there to take messages from people. Nick is yttocS (Ann@Indiana) I haven't bought the modem yet, Jim. I need the cell phone for the weekend. I haven't found that Card reader for the modem yet. (Rupp Technology Cor) Ross: Email me at 75300,1232 or for faster service INTERNET:sglasgow@rupp.com and I will make sure on gets to you. (Jim C.) Ann, I'll look around for you, see ya" (3-10,Ann@Indiana) Bye all (Rupp Technology Cor) Tina: It depends on what and to who. Most of the sysops here and some writes for PDA magazines know that I try to support them in supporting us and/or the Zaurus line.. (,Jim C.) Good leadership, Bo. you're the best! (Rupp Technology Cor) Bye Ann (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)thanks Jim I am blushing. Scott really did every thing tonight (Rupp Technology Cor) I didn't do anything. (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Sure you did. You answered all those questions. (Andy Rathbone) And you provided all those prizes! (Tina Rathbone) Great, Scott ;) (Andy Rathbone) Hey Scott, how are the games selling in compared to the "serious" software? (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)Yeah Scott can you tell us just how popular is our Zaurus? (Jim C.) Good question, Andy. (Rupp Technology Cor) Z-Games sells well....although in comparison I couldn't tell you has I haven't seen a report yet. We just started shipping the other apps a week or so ago. The Zaurus moves well. Our biggest problem...hmm actually scratch that...can't say. ;-) (Andy Rathbone) Aw c'mon, there's nobody left to hear the gossip! (Rupp Technology Cor) I know I assisted shipping in packaging everything when we started shipping the new apps, and RuppLynx 3.1 and we sent out a lot of packages. We even broke a record on number of packages shipped in one day. (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: Naw....this is recorded and I get my share of trouble as it is. Not that I mind it... It is unimportant anyways. (Tina Rathbone) Well, I can smell the roasted garlic burning in the oven, so I guess I'll say goodbye. Bo, thank you and Scott and everyone: this was one fun conference! (Rupp Technology Cor) I want to personally thank you Bo for setting this up...its been a long time coming. Anytime you want to do this, you know how to reach me. (Andy Rathbone) I still have to wil in these games. have not even won the codebreaker on the novice level yet. (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: Give it time. I used to be the same way...especially with Domination..now I win pretty much all the time. Now I play just to break records. That is my favorite...wish the Zaurus was strong enough to handle chess though. I also want IR head to head games..... (Rupp Technology Cor) Domination should have been head to head. (Andy Rathbone) Wow! That IR head to head chess games would be incredible! (Bo Lorentzen SYSOP)I think that the IR head to head would be the COOOLest feature (Rupp Technology Cor) Yes..it would be ok..but you have to have vs Z to make it good and that would be slow. Not everyone has a friend or associate with a Z... (Andy Rathbone) Yeah, but everybody who has them has fun diddling with them -- and hooking them up head to head is the funnest part. (Rupp Technology Cor) Andy: I know..I have been asking for it since the 9600. This is the end of the transcript.
