Here are a few things to try if your Wizard or Zaurus won't connect to you PC running W3.1 or W95... 1. Make sure your modem is on com 1, mouse on com 2, and Link on com 3. 2. Make sure your port defaults are com 1 = IRQ4, com 2 = IRQ3, and com 3 = IRQ4. 3. Turn the SECRET off in the palmtop. 4. Set the palmtop to CABLE, not WIRELESS. 5. Reinstall the Link software. 6. Run SCANDISK, after backing up, from the DOS prompt to fix any lost clusters. 7. If you have an external modem and no com 3 buy an A-B switch and switch back and forth between your palmtop link & the modem. 8. If you're running older versions of RuppLynx under W95 use the library file ZRUPPW95.TXT and make the recommended changes. (Zaurus only) 9. Make sure the port in your PC is actually wired as some have a connector but are not internally wired. 10. Look at all the connectors for bent or missing pins. 11. Run MSD from the DOS prompt to see what IRQ is assigned to what peripheal and make the changes as in #1 above. 12. Do not plug the link cable into an internal modem as it won't work. 13. Try a WIRELESS link with the optional Sharp interfaces as maybe your cable is bad. 14. If you have a laptop with IR see if it has a Sharp compatible mode and try the Link via that. My IBM ThinkPad works. Good luck. If the above still doesn't solve the problem post a forum message (no emails) to me & I'll help you. Jim Christian (SysOp) 74777,2604
