I would check the "User's Picture" check box in the start-up tool.<<<< Just to expand on Jims answer: I found it easiest to first export one of the scrap-entries from the Z as a bmp. Load that into - say - Windows Paintbrush and then you can be sure of the size etc. BTW: I took a video shot of our 9 month old son - a friend "grabbed" it to a JPEG file. Then I converted the JPEG to monochrome, resized it, and pasted the result into Paintbrush. Then I downloaded the picture to the Z. Worked GREAT! And now Christopher beams at me every time I turn the Z on! Hope this helps. I then imported a scrap book entry into corel (paintbrush will do just fine) to determine size on the wiz, re-sized the B&W image to those specs and downloaded to the Wiz. It sounds like more work than it really is. Corel made it easy with one package, but you might also try using ImageView for the resizing. It came free with the latest WinCIM (the one with Spry Mosaic). There is no lightening or darkening with a monochrome image (unless you count making it all black or all white). Paintbrush did the trick. Before I tried with Image Pals, Corel Photo Paint and GWS, all to no avail. Maybe those weren't the finest graphic programs after all :-( . Anyway, saving the image once with Paintbrush before importing to the Z works for me. Only thing that still doesn't work is the 'preview' option of the Z link pgm. Instead of the expected picture it comes up with BM and some garbage characters. Anyway, ... thanks for your help. If you are up to trying something different, the is a program in the other Palmtop forum for the Wizard that does work with the Z. It's called PIC-Link, and I'm not sure what the actual download file is named. This program can import various types of image files and display them on the PC exactly as it will be seen on the Z. You can then use the program to send the picture to the Z. I have used this program to send pictures to the Z. - Bob Clary, 73324,3333 @ 08-Aug-1995, 05:04:56 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.62 #: 35037 S9/Sharp Zaurus 18-Mar-96 22:26:30 Sb: #34986-Personal Pic's on Start Fm: Bo Lorentzen 74673,2401 To: Andrea D. The former will result in a better result. Paint Shop Pro will also resize the graphic image to a custom size such as 200 x 250. I have used Paintshop Pro (available as shareware from the Web) to do this. You must save the original as a .bmp file with 2 colors (black and white) and an image size of 300 by 200 pixels. I'v had some success importing photos when they are converted to B&W halftone. For a halftone set the contrast high and the brightness way dark. That seams to give me the best results. good luck Sebastian
