This would turn a desktop fax machine into a great printer for the Z. Up to now, I've been moving to another office and faxing in the traditional way in order to make a paper copy of documents I am word processing on the Z. << No problem. 1. First, tap on options in the Fax software and set "Detect:" to "None" (instead of "Dial tone" the default). 2. Hook them up directly and tell the Zaurus to Fax (input any fax number such as "123"). 3. When the Zaurus starts to dial, pick up the Fax machine handset and press START. Papa 103224,3435 Hello Tony, >> Both work through cable but not IR << I own a CE-IR2 and use IQPRN with Windows 95, and it works well. Perhaps you forgot to tell IQPRN, that you use ir-transfer. IQPRN accepts the following commands : Syntax: iqprn [ir] [cN] [pN | fFileName] ir = user infra-red link instead of level converter cN = communications port (default c1) pN = printer port (default p1) fFileName = redirects output to FileName instead of to printer e.g. iqprn c2 f\data\printer.out Reads from communications port 2, writes to \data\printer.out on current drive. e.g. iqprn p2 Reads from communications port 1, writes to printer port 2. Assuming you use com2 and lpt1 with your IR-interface you should type : iqprn ir c2 p1 f"filename" (don't forget the "f" in front of the filename if you want to redirect the output to a file) hope that helps, Christian Armbruster, Germany 100762,1123 #: 27439 S9/Sharp Zaurus 13-Jan-96 09:07:50 Sb: #27396-WIZPRINT help needed Fm: Derek Pinton 70372,470 To: Kable Singh 100434,2542 (X) Hi Kable, I believe there was some discussion in the Forum to the extent that WIZPRINT would not work with the Zaurus. I tried it and got exactly the same "Framing" error message you're getting. However, IQPRINT works fine for me using a CE-IR2. I have my IR2 on Com 3 but found (for some obscure reason) that if I set the IQPRN string to COM 4 it worked. I have IQPRN set up in a PIF file and run it as a window in Win 3.1. Prints fine to my Canon BJ200e. It does a great job of capturing screenshots using '2nd P' rather than the pull-down Print command. You can also print to a PC file using the f command - as in IQPRN>iqprn ir c4 fprinter.dat. The problem with the file print is that it contains all the printer control codes, so it's not very readable. The default printer port for IQPRN is LP1, so you should be ok and shouldn't have to specify a printer port setting in your command line. If you have a problem getting IQPRN to run, let me know as there are a couple of control panel items we can try. Cheers, Derek Vancouver, B.C. How t print ?. I'm using the cable offered by SHARP and a serial/ parallel Converter. This is a small unit looks like a connector. I plug this converter into the printer instead the normal printer cable and connect the whole thing to my Z. Thats it, it's working if you using the LaserJet III settings. I believe that SHIER SYSTEMS have a cable which will connect directly between the Z and the POCKET JET. They can be reached at Phone 805-731-9391 FAX 805-371-9454 The tab problem I had some problems with when I first got the Zaurus. Scott from SHARP finally managed to explain the solution to me. You have to drag ALL the tab settings all the way to the right. Then drag only the ones you need back to where you want them. The Zaurus don't handle two or more tabs in a line very well. also if you enter a space or two after a tab it also seems to work. (for me at least). Try it, let me know if it worked. Keep in mind, I don't sell them, but I was impressed with the service of the place where I bought mine. If you get one, I'm sure that you'll like it! I use mine with my Zaurus, my HP and my laptop. Everyone who sees mine envys me for being able to get such good quality print from such a small unit. And, as I said before, if you really must have a letter perfect print quality, you can stop off at a local photocopy shop and once through the copier and the copy looks as good as or better than the original. I have used mine to generate on the spot proposals and the prospect is so impressed with the technology that I believe that it actually helps me get the sale. The thermal paper has yet to be a deterrent to the sale, actually seems to enhance it. As you can see, I love my little machine and one other side benefit, there aren't any print cartridges to replace. The rechargeable battery seems to last for approximately 24 pages of print. This is usually enough for more than a three day field visit. FYI. BUT do you realise that you can print useing the normal cable from a Z to a PC ?? All you need extra is a converter from the plug at the PC end to a Printer plug. (Serial / Parallel converter). This method is much cheaper and far more useful I would have thought. Especially as the cable can be used for other things also. There is a nice cable which is a integrated solution. You can find more in the file Zaccess in the Zaurus Library here in the forum. You can not print directly from a spreadsheet, but you can select the cells you need to print and paste them into a document. I have a preset page with tabs in the right places for the purpose. Generally speaking the word processor is WYSIWYG, one notable exception is that the Taps takes a little getting used to , also when using PS font, needs to modify the right margin, set it to 1.4 inch. and you should have no problems.
