We recently developed a Web Site, http://www.pdapage.com, which analyses
prices and suppliers for PDA's and accessories.  This is an independent,
impartial, and frequently updated guide.

On the page we list the two best prices that we have found for each item, and
give links to the suppliers.

We have found that there is some competition to be listed as the least
expensive supplier, so a number of resellers have asked us to list special
prices, which they will only offer if you mention that you saw the price on
PDApage.  This, together with the general fall in RAM and FLASH prices, means
that the prices we have listed are significantly lower than the best you might
have seen only a few weeks ago.

If you are about to buy a new PDA, or an accessory, you might easily be able
to save some money by looking at our page first.

We only list prices, since we have no way of getting reliable information
about after sales service and support, or any of the other attributes that
might make you choose one supplier over another.  However, if you know what
you want, and you know how to use it, our page can be very useful.

I just called a local Internet Service Provider and got an account with them.
For $10.00 CAN a month I get 20 hrs of full Internet access either via TCP/IP
with PPP connection (using MS Internet Explorer and other Windows 95 programs)
or via Unix shell, i.e. plain text access similar to BBS access.

If you want similar access check out your local ISPs and their rates (a lot of
them now offer unlimited time access for a reasonable monthly fee plus a dozen
other access plans) and ask them if they provide Unix shell access as well.
Most of them do.  Then, once you sign up, they will give you all the info you
need to access their server.

Hello Tony,

Joey have a similar package out for the Newton, and some very refined
applications have been created using the Joey software.

You can check out Joey forms at http://wwwjoeytech.com

I think that they have been very successful with their MessagePad software,
and hope that they will do just as good with the Zaurus version.

You are probably right that this is mainly for commercial developers,  there
is probably a market there, after all, a vertical market application can
easily cost several thousand to develop, I am sure that with that kind of
budget, the customer will not care to much about a small fee for each user
platform.

Another thing in the favor is their software is compatible with JetForm
Filler, JetForm Filler Pro, and JetForm Central....

Rick,

These boneheads (excuse my frustration) really don't have a clue.  Sorry you
have to go through all this.  There is a promotion for the ZR-AP2 software
which is different from that in-box offer.  EVERY dealer has had the forms
mailed to them.

difficult.
We have a solution just about ready. Testing to date reveals 1 hour 30 minutes

With all due respect.  Wince is a joke.  It's MS's half-assed attempt to go

I just spent a week with a Sharp MI-10 "Color Zaurus", serial number 0001 and
US software rev. 0.2. You can read my initial impressions in my column on the
latest "mobilis" journal on the web. We'll also run a full feature on it in
the February issue of Pen Computing Magazine which we're going to close next
week.

It's hard not to be impressed by the MI-10. The TFT screen is just gorgeous,
and seeing one's web page--color, graphics, and all--on a Zaurus is terrific.
I'm also in love with the PC-Card camera option. Nonetheless, Sharp will have
to make some difficult decisions since the MI-10 is a very different animal
from the current US Zauri.

I agree with what you are saying. I use my Cassiopeia out of the office (see
http://www.mobilepda.co.nz/hpc.htm) and also own two Zaurus Zr5800 Mobile
Units (http://www.mobilepda.co.nz). IMO the Windows CE Cassiopeia gives me
exactly what I need for Internet Entry, (both Email & Browser). Sure it's a
battery Hog - but now we have overcome that it is a very handy tool to have!

old version of Intellilink or something.

I had a few miutes with a GSM version at the Duty Free shop at Heatrow coupe
of months ago. Neat machine but bit pricey IMHO - some UKP 1,500 (More than
USD $2,250!) if I recall correctly.

Spent about an hour with Newton 2000 yesterday. Amazingly FAST machine. The
Newt2 is my choice for now. Can't wait till March rolls around...

BTW, did you find whether there is a NOKIA section here on CompuServe?

I have recently purchased a prototype version of a product called the Mobilpak
External Battery Pack for the Zaurus. The manufacturer is a small company,
Peel Technologies, in Ontario. The price was US$35 (including shipping to
Belgium). Here are my first impressions:

The Mobilpak is designed to replace the power adapter in situations where an
outlet is not available. It comes in two versions, one with 4 D-size
batteries, and another with 4 C-size batteries. It is the latter I purchased.
Basically, the unit consist of a plastic box into which you pop in the
batteries, and then plug it into the Zaurus. It also has a battery tester
built in. The size of the unit is about 5.5 X 3 X 1.75 inches.

For me the main test of the Mobilpak was whether it could power my ZR5800 when
using the Nokia Data Card GSM modem, an extremely power hungry accessory (if
no external power is supplied, the Zaurus will not even turn on with this
modem in its slot). The result was that it worked like a charm. I have not yet
had the opportunity to test the battery life when using the unit, but it
appears to provide a viable solution for travelling with the Zaurus,
especially if you go to countries which use a different voltage than your own.
For example, I am going to the USA for a couple of weeks in March, and since I
do not have a power adapter for the American current, the Mobilpak will serve
as the perfect solution for that trip.

I bought mine from Rupp Technology Corp. for $149.99 + 7.50 or 12.50 shipping.

serial cable is included, although probably not for a Mac.

Pygmy Computer Systems, www.pygmy.com, also sells a package for $189 that
