The Fila Brasileiro
Veloz do Eshabeta II
Veloz do Eshabeta II - "Cajun"
Co-owned by Tracy and Philip Shea and Dawna Berg of Eshabeta II Kennel.
21 months old (as of March 99), 27.5 inch, 133 lbs.
Cajun came home to live with us when he was 4 mos old. I was at a show, with my 1 and only Fila at the time, when my
breeder asked if I was ready for a male. I said sure and we went to see the pups. There were 3 I had to choose from. 2
fawn males (which I was really taken with as I already had a brindle) and a brindle male. We went out into the field and the
puppies were turned loose. The fawns were all over me, jumping, tugging, spirited. The brindle stood back until they were
moving on and then came and flopped on my feet. He took his time doing everything and just ambled around as the other two
played roughly. He reminded me of the Saggy Baggy Elephant, of childrens stories.
I was really taken with one fawn male who had golden eyes. But I really liked the little brindle too, but we already had a
brindle. A friends 2 years old daughter was set down to see how the puppies would react. Since I had children, I wanted to be
sure they would be okay. The two fawns started following the little girl. They never got too close, and would back up a little
when she turned toward them. The brindle sat in the shade and watched from a distance.
Phil chose the fawn with the gold eyes. He was great with Phil and I, but when the kids came home, he tried to bite them for
even looking at him, and bit Phil when he tried to get him. Obviously he was not going to be able to stay. He was a wonderful
pup, but needed a no children home with an experienced Fila owner. So Phil took him back that nite and picked up the
brindle boy.
Cajun's father, 96 World Champion/97 Reserve World Champion, Xadrez of Eshabeta II (Reno).
Cajun is sired by the 96 World Champion/97 Reserve World Champion, Xadrez of Eshabeta II (call name Reno). His dam is
Pegado Pena Eshabeta II (call name Ama). He is a beautiful closed brindle boy with lots of bone and skin, beautiful head and
wonderfully correct conformation. He still has the name Saggy Baggy Elephant in our house! When he sits, it all flops around
his butt.
Cajun's mother, Pegado Pena Eshabeta II (Ama).
That is how Cajun came to live with us. He came home and kissed the girls all over. He got along great with Maggie, the
original dog goddess of the house. After the original bout of car sickness, he loved to ride and was a dream to train. He was
extremely loving and friendly (oh no, we had a Friendly Fila!). The vet welcomed him to visit, which we did alot in our
socialization. He fell in love with "Grandma" and would lay at her feet whenever we went to visit. He is the master of the Fila
Lean and can flop over with the best of them.
He went to his first show at 6 mos old.... And won every class he was in! Against adults even. He quickly earned his IABCA
Baby Championship in one weekend. He proceeded to gain all age title but Open through IABCA too. His first time at an
ARBA show, he was 1 yr old. He did very well there as well, taking his classes and placing twice as BOB and taking Reserve
in Group behind the great Jazz. In 1998, Cajun attained his ARBA Championship and placed as 3rd ranked Fila in ARBA.
And this was only in 3 outings! He spent 3 months back East and came home in January. We were so glad to have him
home!
Cajun will be going to the World Dog Show in Mexico City, Mexico, June 1999. He will be handled by the renowned Fila
handler, Mr. Daniel Rosa. We are hoping that he will do great and follow in the footsteps of his father.
His temperament is stable and he is extremely smart. He has temperament, but knows when to be on and when to be off.
(His father was a "late bloomer", waiting until he was through with his show career before coming into his own.) Reno is one
of the most intense, hard, serious dogs I have yet to meet. Cajun loves children and is very careful with them. It is often we
find our 3 yr old daughter "walking" him around the yard, with him following patiently. And many has been the time we have
awoke to find our two girls curled up on the dog bed with him. He is extremely well mannered and absolutely loves to be in
the showring!
We have shared our lives with 6 Filas since we got into the breed. We lost one to parvo (our first) and one to a freak accident
that crushed her lungs. We currently have 4. Besides Cajun, we have three bitches. 2.5 yr old Maggie (who all of you have
heard about endlessly) a brindle, 14 mos old Carrera (the infamous Mechafila) a black, and 13 mos old Terran, a fawn. We
co-own Cajun, Carrera and Terran with Dawna. And we would like to thank her from the bottom of our hearts for letting us
have them in our lives.
Cajun will be available for stud starting after the World Show. To get information regarding stud service, please contact

We are very happy to have Cajun in our lives. We wish him all the luck in the world (no pun intended. LOL) But even if he
failed at anything, he will always have a home with us, FOREVER.
Forever in Filas,
Tracy Shea
Oh, and we should have just taken him in the first place......
Molosserworld want to congratulate the
breeder and the owners of "Cajun" for such an outstanding speciment of the breed, and best wishes for the World Dog Show in Mexico.
Do YOU want to nominate a Molosser for Dog of the Month? It
does not have to be a dog who have achieved alot at shows, other reasons count as much to be Dog
of the Month at Molosserworld.
Send me suggestions!
