For the last 18 years we have had German shepherds.They are fine dogs but they do have too many defects, so we wanted something pure that is without the defaults of the popular breeds e.g h.d .
We knew from articles from various dog magazines that the Kangal dog still was a pure breed. By coincidence we found in the adverts in our local newspaper a Kangal for sale.

To be honest, we don't like second hand dogs, especially at an age of 9 months, right in their puberty. Because one never knows we went to see this buy. We came, we saw , we fell in love at first sight.
In the first week we had our doubts if he did fit in in our family with two children, one dog, two ferrets, one rabbit and a lush garden.

After this week we knew; to accept the kids it would take a while, the rabbit-no problem, the other dog some slight quarrel, our 2 ferrets murded. As for our garden, it is not lush anymore, it is not even a garden.
As for Max, he is a very dominant typical Kangal dog. After a year of obedience training he became very manageable for us. He is now a friendly dog but reserved for strangers.

Max's first show was in February in Zuid-Laren, NL, where he became Best of Breed- Excellent.
For us it is very encouraging to try other shows to see what he can achieve this year in the showworld.
But the most important thing, Max is the best companion we ever had.
