Operating Procedures

Multi-Player Standard Operating Procedures

Strive to keep transmissions brief and clear.
Non-combat comms are to be kept to a minimum until all flights have landed.
Avoid "stepping on someone". If someone is talking please wait until that person is finished.
If you have a problem with the jet, call "(Your callsign) Aborting" and return to mission schedule.
If you lose RW COMMS immediately select COM 1 and establish Text communications (shift T). Frequencies for COM1 will be briefed by element or package leader.

The following Standard Operating Procedures are followed by every TopDogs pilot on every flight. It is a necessity to learn these procedures to minimize the chance of problems when connecting to an online multi-player flight.
Connect with Roger Wilco to the TopDogs VFS BaseStation. if aveleble
Request a "Mic Check" and verify that you can hear all pilots and they can hear you satisfactorily. Use "(Your Call Sign), Mic Check, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5" and wait for a response. Verify you hear the other pilots by telling them so.
The host may direct that players switch to another Roger Wilco channel (261st TopDogs) RW channels are available for download from the RW  Downloads Website

The host of the game announces the connection parameters:
Whether or not the -pf command line string will be used
The connection bandwidth
Host's IP

The host verifies that the Falcon 4.0 connection is established by announcing, "The host is hot" or "The host is connected"
Note: The host must connect first or problems may result.

All Pilots verify the connection parameters given by the host and then connect to the Host.

Perform text check-in at the Chat Room in Falcon 4.0.
No one leaves the Chat Room until all flying pilots check in.

The Host sets up the game and invites other players to join by announcing, "The game is up".
Select the Host's game (it will turn green after clicking on it). Then commit by clicking on the planes in the lower right of the screen.

Enter the mission schedule screen, stop your clock, and announce, "(callsign) is in the game, clock is stopped".
Conduct Mission Briefing.
Each flight will conduct a briefing before committing to fly. This includes verification of flight callsign, objective, target, time on target, weapons loadout, and threats, and misc info.
NOTE: Understand how to make changes to only your jet's loadout and not the entire flight's...
To do this you must deselect the other pilots in your flight by clicking on their names, making THEIR NAMES BLACK leaving ONLY YOUR NAME with a BLUE background. It is often easier to make a loadout change request to your flight lead, and have only him make ordnance adjustments to the aircraft in your flight.

Conduct "Ready" call check-in upon mission briefing completion.
When you are finished and ready to fly, wait at the mission schedule for the all pilots in the flight(s) to check in, in order.
The flight lead of the first flight to depart will say, "(callsign), ready". Then his wingman will say (callsign), ready, followed by then element lead, and so on until everyone flying has checked in with, "ready".
Note: You are now using your callsign for your respective flight and aircraft, not your
261st callsign. e.g. Falcon23, Cowboy12.

Conduct "Committing" Call upon completion of the "ready" check-In.
In the same manner as the "Ready" check-in, all pilots should commit in order by announcing "(callsign) committing" followed by clicking on the commit button (the aircraft in the bottom right corner of the mission schedule screen). Do not commit until it is your turn.
Note: Be ready to operate your wheel brakes ("K" key) upon entering the cockpit. Occasionally you may be rolling down the taxiway as you enter the cockpit.

Conduct a "In the jet" call after being placed into the cockpit and preparing to taxi.
In the same manner as the "Committing" Call, all pilots should declare they ready by announcing in order "(callsign) in the jet"
Once everyone in your flight has checked in, the flight lead should ask for clearance to taxi and proceed to taxi the flight to the runway.
Line up as briefed/directed.
Depart as briefed/directed.
