The Following are the Current Course Outline  of the FTWS
Overview of Course Contents
Students are expected to be proficient with the following items to a point where they have a clear understanding of what is required if not the actual online experience of them. The lessons will concentrate around the the tactical area of Air to Air Combat, although tips on the different instruments that are available to you will be given you should already know how to do the following.

1. Instrument awareness including an in depth knowledge of the air to air radar modes of operation.

2. Formation Flying

3. Weapons systems

4. Offensive BFM's BVR and Close Quarters

5. Defensive BFM's BVR and Close Quarters

6. Counter Measures  

Please note that all lessons will be flown with full Ace 100 settings realistic padlock model and vehicle magnification set to one. The instructor pilot will be the connection and mission host for all engagements. ECM will be used unless directed otherwise by assigned flight instructor.

 Close quarters Air to Air Engagements  
Offensive BMF Guns only  
Defensive BMF Guns only  
Offensive BMF Missiles (combination of close range missiles)  
Defensive BMF Missiles (combination of close range missiles)  
NOTE: Students will be put through initial flights to assess their BFM abilities
Advanced students will only focus on areas of weakness
The above lesson will be flown from both positions of tactical advantage and disadvantage. ACMI will be used by both Instructor and pupil to debrief.
ROE's will be set by instructor and will be strictly adhered to at all times failure to do so will automatically result in a fail for this section.

Multiple Aircraft Procedures  

Flight management (Formation, Radio Procedures)
Combat techniques / formations (Search Patterns, AWACS, Weapons Management)
Combat tactics use of wingmen and elements.
Threat Assessment ( Read )
The above lesson will be flown from both positions of tactical advantage and disadvantage.ACMI will be used by both Instructor and pupil to debrief.

ROE's will be set by instructor and will be strictly adhered to at all times failure to do so will automatically result in a fail for this section.



BVR / WVR Air to Air Engagements

Search Methods ( Read )
Approach Methods / Intercepts
Weapons Deployment
Defensive measures against Missiles  
The above lesson will be flown from both positions of tactical advantage and disadvantage.ACMI will be used by both Instructor and pupil to debrief.

ROE's will be set by instructor and will be strictly adhered to at all times failure to do so will automatically result in a fail for this section.



Course review and Assessment Check.

During this phase your progress and proficiency will be assessed in the various classes so far this is your chance to review what you have learned so far. Also at this stage your instructor pilot will give you the chance to try any particular item on the course that you may not have achieved the required levels of proficiency again, remember we want you to get through this course.

Graduation Exercises.

Congratulations if you made it this far, you are now entering the competitive phase of the course this your chance to prove you have "The right stuff". During this phase you and the students in your rotation will go up against the IP's from the school, in a series of increasingly difficult scenarios. Each round you fly your kills and performance will be assessed. At the completion of this phase the top student will be entered into the "Top Gun" Page, here you will be able to see the "Best students" that have gone in previous rotations.
