Turkey
Day 1:
We started our journey through Turkey docked in Istanbul,
a fabulous city that sits on the border of Europe and Asia. The evening
we arrived, Terry, Errol, and I sped off imediately to a cash machine,
so we could get the local currency, and then to a bus station. We
first bought tickets to Ephisius. Located in Ephisius is the ruins
of the Temple of Diana, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
It turned out to be extrordinarily underwhelming. However, it was
a nice day, and hey, we're in Turkey!, so we journeyed out on foot to find
more impressive ruins. A few miles away sat the great coliseum and
the excivated ruins of Ephisus. (Really cool - in the picture books
they had in the library about ephisus, the pictures showed the coliseum
only partially excivated. Proof that they really did do some serious
digging.)
So, a little tired but psyched all the same, we goofed around on the
coliseum for a bit. The scale is hard to tell from the picture, but
this coliseum is HUGE. Here's a picture that shows just how big it
is: (yes, those little blips are Terry and Errol)
There were many other ruins in Ephisus besides the Great
Coliseum. Here's a shot of us kicking back in some of them:
And here's a shot me me taking a noontime nap in an ancient

Day 2:
We spent a good part of the evening
