The Donnan Party II

or

"Leftovers"

Despite a variety of obstacles such as spring break, bum knees, northern snow, compounded schedules, and dirty diapers, the Donnan Party II went into full swing on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2001.

The Leftovers I'd gladly pay you next Tuesday for a Del Tin today... Donnan sprouts an enviable growth of Lady Caroline

Once again, wishing our recently "donized" Don Donnan "the Solitary" MacDubhshithe was the center of attention for another fencing birthday bash. Forces beyond the control of conniving of any organizer kept many friends from joining us, but we still had a healthy and enjoyable turn out of souther fencers converge and fence at the 10th Street Station in Ford City, PA.

Rock/Paper/Scissors... the new wave in dueling melee I think Kusar is losing

So, who made it this year? From Region 1, we had Anias, Donnan, Gwen, and Valentine. From Region 2, we had Catherine, Colin, Corwyn, Eoghan, Lyev, and Michael Alewright. And to throw their weight to wishing a Donnan a happy "older than dirt" birthday, Cheryl, Deirdre, Feliciano, and Miriam stopped by.

Happily, Donnan was not limping around and fencing from a chair this year but was instead up, kicking ass, and taking names!

Places everyone! Tired but having a good time

The five hours of fencing churned on, and we had tons of room for numerous simultaneous pickups that progressed to several team melees.

Happy group shot
After fencing (but still wanting more like the addicts that we are), we swept up, cleaned ourselves up, and headed down to Valhalla Brew Pub in the Pittsburgh Strip District. After a brief wait, we escorted to our table and had good food and good brew with good friends.

And once again, the band played and sang "Happy Birthday, Donnan" as he snorted in a 20 oz mug of Irish Red.

Crazed Food Frenzy

Once again, we had a great time. Perhaps we'll try it a third time next year.
