I think it important that we have an area set aside for new posters to introduce themselves to those of us who have been posting to the board for awhile.
Please feel free to say (or not say) whatever you want about yourself and we'll try our best to make you feel welcome. That's a promise!!!

Hi,
Already posted a few times, but thought I'd add
another one here. I'm shiny and new.
Kind of like Darth Vader.

Thanks for the kind welcome! As for my name, Ser Gary, I have to admit that I made it up. It's the name of the character I play in an on-line adventure game. I think that Telisiane probably = Taliesin (predecessor to Merlin in some series of books I never read by some author I can't remember) + Telien (from a young adult fantasy series I read like a 100 years ago - something like Caves of Fire and Ice?).

Hey there. This is my first time posting on this board. I have been snooping around the net trying to find a release date to the Song of Swords. Amazon.co.uk has the book listed but no publication date yet. I know that CoK was released in the UK about a year before it was released in the US. So if anyone has any information on when we can expect the book to be released, it would be so greatly appreciated. Also I was wondering if there was any truth to the rumor that GRRM is working on a film script for Fevre Dream for Disney?
I had picked up a galley proof of GoT when I was working at Borders and I have been hooked ever since. This series is like crack cocaine to me. It is right up there with Jordan's Wheel of Time. I am pushing all of my friends to read GoT and I have not had one complaint yet.
Hopefully, we will not have to wait too long for the Song of Swords to come out. But with my luck since I have said that, the book will not come out for another 2 years. Knock on wood.

Welcome Mike, Telisiane and Arya
Arya - I think Martin hopes to be done with the next book by the end on 1999. I believe the title will be A Storm of Swords rather than A Song of Swords. Generally speaking an Author submits his work to all of his publishers at the same time. Depending on the particular publishers schedule the book is often released earlier in some locations than others. I think in the case of A Clash of Kings, Martin's UK publisher had an unexpected opening in their schedule that allowed them to publish earlier. Barring that the next book should be out by summer 2000.

Welcome, Arya. I think I'm one of the few Arya despisers who visit this site. Perhaps you'll be the one to turn me around.
Telisiane, thank you for the rundown on the derivation of your name. Brilliant.

Thanks for the welcome Ser Gray and Paula.
Paula, thanks for the information on the possible publication date for the sequel to the CoK. I was kind of hoping that it would be released by Christmas. We can always hope.
Ser Gray, don't know what I ever did to you. But I am a lovable person who just does not let anyone walk all over her. Maybe that is why you don't like me. Hmmm?
Was wondering when is there a weekly chat? Time and place are all of the information that I need.

Welcome Arya!
There is a weekly chat, that sometimes attracts people on Tuesday nights. Go to Revanshe's (Welcome back Revanshe, we missed you!) site and that will fill in all the details.

Welcome Arya. On Revanshe's site, as Claidham said, are the newest details to be found. The URL is:
http://welcome.to/iceandfire
Rev is in permanent contact with Mr. Martin himself and thus really has the latest news. The release date for "A Storm of Swords" will, according to her, be summer 2000.
A belated welcome to you, DDBinks, too. :-)

OK. I'm not really a new poster (I've posted here before), but I didn't know this was here. So, I'll say "Hi". This is a really good idea to have new posters introduce themselve. I did post on the old board, but then it died (or something, what did happen to it?) and it took me a while to discover this board. So what was I doing all that time? I was working on my web site. If I had known all that work that goes into to web site, I probably wouldn't have tried. But now I'm hooked. My site probably won't be updated for a while (I'm running out of internet time). So I'm sorry. Oh, my site is called Isle of Faces. www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Park/1043/index.html
So what did happen to the old board? Anyone know?
