This is a mirror of the now defunct eesite ASOIAF webboard. The discussions for G.R.R. Is anybody else having trouble getting onto the Dragonsworn board? I can't seem to "find" it.

Yup, Ran. I'm still around. And I still think a Dragonsworn-type BB would be a great addition to you website, provided your server can cope with it. Please keep me posted. I'm always checking back here to see where we stand (alas, poor Dragonsworn, I knew it well!). I think I'm going into ASOIAF withdrawal--I haven't participated in a ASOIAF discussion since Dragonsworn died. The delayed CoK paperback date was just more bad news.
Keep plugging, Ran. You have my full support on any BB initiative you care to consider.
P.S. Revanshe: I was only joshing you about starting up another board. You've done WAY more than enough--for all of us--and for that I am truly grateful! ;-)

Tom-
I really think bulletin boards are quite awesome, thats why I put so much time into them! Unfortunately, I really cant afford to put too much MORE time into them (or money, that is) :(...

Hello, Hello!!!!
I've decided to stop stalking the back alleys of esite and finally start posting again. Dragonsworn, how I miss thee!!!!!
Anyways, I've got questions for anyone who can answer them.
1. Will Dragonsworn ever be running again? Or is the funeral already planned?
2. If ACoK paperback release is being pushed back, does that also mean that the release of ASoS will be held back as well?
Pretty simple questions, I hope someone has the answers (like Ran for instance)
Well, it's good to get the old posting blood running again!

The folk at Dragonsworn.com have said nothing, as far as I know, as to the status of the board. A month ago they posted to their site that within a day they'd address various issues -- but a month since and nothing. Right now I'm guessing that there's been some sort of falling out among the folk who made up the Dragonsworn group, which has left everything hanging. But that's just a guess based on the inordinate amount of time they're taking.
ASoS isn't being pushed back, at least not yet. Still on track for July-August release, as far as anyone knows. GRRM maybe isn't quite done with the polishing, but he's relatively close.

Say, Ran, did you ever get any more info. on running an ASOIAF BB from your site? I'd have to say Dragonsworn is looking pretty hopeless these days. It's strange that it so completely crashed and burned. There must be a story there someplace...

Well, did check. We've got the necessary code bases for it ... but two things are up in the open:
1) How big does UBB get? We're not sure of just how much space we can afford to devote to it. (This is probably a relatively minor issue, however. Worst comes to worst, we can see about archiving to some other site I Guess.)
2) Will it _really_ work with what we have? Only thing to do is get the freeware demo and try it out, but neither we nor our site administrator has had the time to fiddle with it.
We'll try and see if we can't get some sort of test of this stuff done in a week or so.

That sounds great, Ran. I'd sure like to see something up by the time ASOS is published this summer, if not sooner. Thanks for looking into this and maybe giving it a try.
It's too bad you can't ask the Dragonsworn people what happened there. (I've tried to contact them but it's a dead end.) Maybe discussing two series on one board was just ... too much. :)
